    Magnesium salicylate - phenyltoloxamine - oral

    (mag-nee-zee-um sal-iss-uh-late w/fen-ull-toll-ox-uh-meen)

    common brand names: Magsal, Mobigesic

    Warning: child & teenagers must not use aspirin, aspirin- containing or aspirin-related medications for flu symptoms or chickenpox with-out 1st consulting a doctor. a rare but serious illness known as Reye's syndrome may occur.

    Magsal Usage: this medication is a combination of an anti-inflammatory agent & an antihistamine used to relieve the pain and swelling (inflammation) about arthritis.

    How to use Magsal: Take this medication by mouth, generally 3 to 4 times daily with food or a full glass of milk (8oz. or 240 ml) as directed by you're physician. dosage is based on you're medical condition and response to therapy.

    Magsal side effects: Heartburn, nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness & dry mouth may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify you're doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use a saliva substitute. Tell youre doctor immediately if you have any about these unlikely but serious side effects: stomach pain, black stools, vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, ringing at the ears, hearing loss, unusually quick or slow heartbeat, blurred vision, a change at amount of urine. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other side effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Magsal Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially about: kidney or liver problems, heart disease, bleeding disorders, stomach/intestinal ulcers, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma (narrow angle), asthma, allergies (especially to aspirin or NSAID such as ibuprofen). this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this medicine can cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol & this medicine may increase some your risk for stomach bleeding. Inform you're dentist or physician that you using it medication, especially before surgery. Caution is advised when prescribing or using this drug in the elderly for they may be more sensitive to effects of the drug. it medicine contains drug similar to aspirin. child & teenagers must not take this med if they have chickenpox, influenza or any undiagnosed illness without 1'st consulting a healthcare professional about Reye's syndrome, rare but serious illness. it drug should be used only when clearly needed during 1st six months of pregnancy; It's not recommended since use during last three months of pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor before using this drug. it medication passes into breast milk. Consult youre healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Magsal drug interactions: Tell youre pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription medications you may use, especially about: probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, phenylbutazone, 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin, heparin), aspirin & other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), acetazolamide, diabetes drugs (e.g., sulfonylureas such as chlorpropamide, tolbutamide), methotrexate. Also report use of drugs that cause drowsiness such as: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure drugs (e.g. phenytoin), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). money the labels on every your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold goods or pain relievers/fever reducers) because they can contain drowsiness-causing ingredients, or aspirin-like NSAIDs. Ask youre physician about safe use about those goods. this med may interfere with certain laboratory tests, including certain urine sugar tests for diabetics (such as Clinistix, Tes-Tape or Clinitest). Inform laboratory personnel that you taking this drug. Ask your pharmacist for more details. do not start or stop any medicine with-out physician or pharmacist approval.

    Magsal Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, fast or deep breathing, ringing in ears, abnormal behavior, exhaustion, & loss about consciousness.

    Magsal special notes: do not share this drug with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g. liver function tests) may be performed to monitor some your progress.

    If you missed Magsal dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near time of the next dose, skip missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Magsal Storage: Store in room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
