Warning: this drug can raise youre body's potassium levels. it is more likely to occur in people with kidney problems, diabetes, in elderly patients, or if the patient is severely ill. Potassium levels must be closely monitored in people with any of these problems or illnesses. If not treated, very high potassium levels can be fatal. If you develop any of the next symptoms, notify your physician immediately: muscle weakness, slow or irregular heartbeat.
Dyrenium Usage: this medication is a 'water pill' (diuretic). this reduces the amount about water & sodium retained by the body. It's used to lower blood pressure and to treat fluid retention (edema).
How to use Dyrenium: Take with food or milk or after meals to minimize stomach upset. Take this drug exactly as prescribed. do not skip doses or increase the dose without your doctor's approval. Because this med may increase urination, avoid taking dose right before bedtime. this medication may increase your potassium levels. Consult some your healthcare professional or pharmacist before using potassium-containing goods such as salt substitutes or potassium supplements. Ask about eating potassium-containing foods (e.g., bananas, potatoes).
Dyrenium side effects: this med may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, lack of energy & dry mouth. Notify your doctor if these effects persist or worsen. this medication may also increase sensitivity to the sun. Inform your doctor if you develop: irregular heartbeat, tingling/numbness of hands or feet, difficulty urinating, fever, chills, rash, sore throat, mouth sores, severe back pain. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it med, seek immeditial medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.
Dyrenium Precautions: Tell your physician you're medical history, especially of: electrolyte/mineral imbalances (e.g., high potassium levels), diabetes, kidney or liver problems, urinary problems, any allergies. If this drug makes you sun-sensitive, avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear protective clothing & use sunscreen. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using it tablet. It's not known if triamterene is excreted in to breast milk. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Dyrenium pill interactions: Inform some your pharmacist about all the medicines you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially if you take: lithium, ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, enalapril, lisinopril), indomethacin (or other NSAIDs), potassium supplements or another potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., amiloride, spironolactone). do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Dyrenium Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, weakness, & lightheadedness.
Dyrenium special notes: don't share it drug with others. it may harm them.
If you missed Dyrenium dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take if it is almost time for the next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double- up' the dose to catch up.
Dyrenium Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in bathroom.
