    Lisinopril w/ hydrochlorothiazide - oral

    (lyse-in-oh-pril with hi-dro-klor-oh-thigh-uh-zide)

    common brand names: Prinizide, Zestoretic

    Warning: this drug may cause serious fetal and serious damage (possibly death) if used during last 6 months of pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, contact your pharmacist immediately.

    Zestoretic Usage: this tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). it medication is combination of two drugs (an ACE inhibitor & a thiazide 'water pill'/diuretic). Lisinopril works by relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. the thiazide diuretic increases amount about urine you make, therefore decreasing excess water and salt at your body. high blood pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

    Zestoretic canbe used also for: this medication may also be used to treat congestive heart failure and to help protect kidneys from damage due to diabetes.

    How to use Zestoretic: Take this medication by mouth, usually one time day or as directed by your doctor. You may take this medication with or with-out food. Use this drug regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at same clock each day. Drink adequate fluids to prevent from becoming dehydrated. If you on restricted fluid intake, consult youre doctor for further instructions. do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium without talking to your physician or doctor 1st. this medicine can infrequently raise or lower your potassium blood levels, which sometimes can cause serious side effects such as muscle weakness/cramping or very slow heartbeats. Tell youre physician immediately if these effects occur. the dosage is based on you're medical condition & response to therapy. for the treatment about hypertension, this may take two to 4 weeks before the full benefit of this drug occurs. this may take some weeks or months to see the full benefit when this drug is used for congestive heart failure. It's important to continue taking this med even if you feel well. most poeple with HBP do not feel sick. If you are also taking cholestyramine or colestipol, take lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide at least two hours before ether about these drugs.

    Zestoretic side effects: You may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, fatigue, blurred vision, dry cough, or vomiting as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify you're pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusual thirst, weakness, confusion, quick heartbeat, fainting, decreased sexual ability, tingling or numbness of the hands/feet, chest pain. Tell you're pharmacist immediately if any about these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: unusual change at amount of urine (after the 1'st several days about starting it drug), seizures, signs of infection (e.g., fever, chills, persistent sore throat). this drug may sometimes cause serious (possibly fatal) liver problems. If you notice any of next highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention: yellowing about eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, persistent fatigue, persistent nausea. An allergic reaction to it pill is unlikely, but seek immeditial healthcare attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling (especially of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact you're healthcare professional or healthcare professional.

    Zestoretic Precautions: this med should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using it medicine, consult your physician or pharmacist if you have: allergies to other ACE inhibitors (e.g., benazepril, captopril), history of an allergic reaction which included swelling of the face/lips/tongue/throat (angioedema), urinary problems (inability to make urine or anuria). Before using this medication, tell your pharmacist or pharmacist you're medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, heart problems, severe loss of body fluids (dehydration through excessive sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea), mineral/electrolyte problems (e.g., imbalance of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium), diabetes, strokes, gout, high levels about fats in blood (high cholesterol or triglycerides), asthma, blood vessel disease (e.g., collagen vascular diseases such as lupus, scleroderma), any allergies in addition to those listed above (including allergies to sulfa drugs or bee/wasp stings, or exposure to certain membranes used for blood filtering). this drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness & lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. Before having surgery, tell your healthcare professional or dentist that you taking this medication. Hydrochlorothiazide may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using this tablet in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of med, especially dizziness effect. it pill should be used only when clearly needed during 1st three months about pregnancy. this is not recommended for use during last six months about the pregnancy due to risk for fetal and serious harm. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. see also Warning section. Hydrochlorothiazide passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding isn't recommended due to potential harm to nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Zestoretic drug interactions: this drug shouldnot be used with the following drugs because very serious interactions may occur: cisapride, dofetilide. If you currently using any of these medications, tell some your healthcare professional or healthcare professional before starting lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide. Before using this med, tell some your healthcare professional or pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially of: antidiabetic drugs (e.g., insulin, glipizide), cholestyramine, colestipol, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), diazoxide, pills which can increase dizziness (e.g., phenobarbital, narcotic analgesics), drugs which affected by acid level in urine (e.g., amphetamine, methenamine, quinidine), other heart drugs (e.g., digoxin), another hypertension drugs, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds (e.g., ibuprofen, indomethacin), potassium supplements (e.g., potassium chloride) or salt substitutes, probenecid, pills that suppress immune system (e.g., azathioprine). money labels on all youre medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase your heart rate or blood pressure. Ask youre physician about safe use of those goods. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or doctor approval.

    Zestoretic Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: unusually fast or slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, or fainting.

    Zestoretic special notes: do not share this medication with others. Lifestyle changes such as stress reduction programs, exercise & dietary changes may increase the effectiveness about this medicine. talk to youre physician or pharmacist about lifestyle changes that might benefit you. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., kidney function, potassium blood level) should be performed periodically to monitor your progress or money since side effects. Consult your doctor for more details. Have your blood pressure checked regularly while taking this pill. Learn how to monitor your own blood pressure in home. Discuss it with your healthcare professional.

    If you missed Zestoretic dose: If you miss dose, use this as soon as you remember. If it is near time of the next dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.

    Zestoretic Storage: Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Storage temperature ranges differ according to different manufacturers, so consult your physician for more information. do not store in bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
