Infant Ibuprofen Usage: Ibuprofen is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which relieves pain & swelling (inflammation). this med is used in children to reduce fever & to relieve minor aches and pain. it medication works by blocking enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling, & fever. do not give this medication to a child younger than six months of age unless directed to do so by healthcare professional.
How to use Infant Ibuprofen: Shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure out each dose carefully with the dropper provided. Give this medication by mouth with food or immediately after meal as directed. Follow each dose with milk, juice, or formula. Keep kid from lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. the dosage is based on your child's weight, medical condition, and response to therapy. Read the product instructions to find the appropriate dose for your child's weight, or consult physician or healthcare professional if you have questions. If repeat doses are needed, they usually given 6 or 8 hours apart; or as directed by doctor. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), it may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before the full benefits of this drug take effect. If you giving this medication to a child for undiagnosed fever or pain, consult the healthcare professional immediately if symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, worsen or last since more than 3 days, or if new symptoms appear.
Infant Ibuprofen side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, & dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. Tell the physician immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of the hands or feet, sudden or unexplained weight gain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus). If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen & consult pharmacist or physician immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. it drug may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any of the next highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen & consult doctor or healthcare professional immediately: yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual/extreme tiredness. An allergic reaction to it drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if this occurs. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact the pharmacist or physician.
Infant Ibuprofen Precautions: this medication shouldn't be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult the doctor or physician if your child has: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib). Caution is advised when using this drug at elderly because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of drug, especially stomach bleeding & kidney effects. this med should be used only when clearly needed during 1-st 6 months of pregnancy. Infant Ibuprofen Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, unusually quick or slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, extreme drowsiness, loss of consciousness, or seizures.
