    Conjugated estrogens/medroxyprogesterone- oral

    common brand names: Premphase, Prempro

    Warning: Combination hormone replacement therapy (estrogen and progestin HRT) shouldn't be used to prevent heart disease. Two-drug combination hormone replacement therapy can infrequently cause cancer of breast, heart disease (e.g., heart attack), stroke, dementia, or blood clots in lung (pulmonary embolism) or leg. Estrogens may also increase risk of cancer of ovary. These risks appear to depend on the length of time it combination is used & amount of estrogen per dose. Therefore, two-drug HRT should be used for the shortest possible length of time at the lowest effective dose, so you obtain the benefits & minimize the chance of serious side effects from long-term treatment. Discuss risks & benefits with your physician. If you use this drug for an extended period, you should be evaluated at least one time a year. see Notes section.

    Prempro Low Dose Usage: this medication is combination of hormones (estrogen & progestin) used to treat symptoms of menopause (e.g., hot flashes, vaginal dryness) & to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) in people at high risk. If you only being treated for vaginal menopause symptoms, goods applied locally such as vaginal creams, meds, or rings must be considered before goods taken by mouth or absorbed through skin. there are few medications (e.g., raloxifene or bisphosphonates) that are safe & effective to prevent or treat bone loss. These medicines should be considered for use before estrogen/progestin HRT therapy for osteoporosis. If you have other medical conditions as well, & are prescribed estrogen/progestin HRT for more than one condition, consult your physician of youre treatment plan and It's options.

    How to use Prempro Low Dose: Take this drug by mouth at the same time each day, usually 1 time daily. this may be taken with food or immediately after a meal to prevent stomach upset. do not increase you're dose, take this more often than directed, or stop taking it with out 1-st consulting you're healthcare professional. Read Patient information Leaflet available from your pharmacist. Consult youre healthcare professional or healthcare professional if you have any questions.

    Prempro Low Dose side effects: Dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, stomach upset, bloating, irritability, changes in sleep patterns, fatigue, nausea, weight changes, increased/decreased interest in sex, & breast tenderness may occur. If any of these persist or worsen, notify your physician promptly. Tell some your pharmacist immediately if any about these unlikely but serious side effects occur: mental/mood changes (e.g., severe depression, memory loss), calf pain/swelling, sudden severe headache, chest pain, trouble breathing, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, vision changes (e.g., change at contact lens fit, loss about vision), breast lumps, swelling of hands and feet, changes in vaginal bleeding (e.g., spotting, breakthrough bleeding or prolonged bleeding), unusual vaginal discharge/itching/odor, yellowing of the eyes or skin. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're healthcare professional or doctor.

    Prempro Low Dose Precautions: this medication shouldn't be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult youre physician or pharmacist if you have: undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, cancer (e.g., of the breast or ovary), blood clots, active/recent stroke or heart attack, liver disease. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: family medical history (especially breast lumps & cancer), asthma, diabetes, seizures, migraine headaches, heart disease (e.g., HBP, heart attacks, congestive heart failure), kidney disease, low thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism), abnormal calcium level in blood, depression, high blood pressure during pregnancy (toxemia), yellowing of eyes & skin (cholestatic jaundice) during pregnancy or with past estrogen use, womb problems (e.g., uterine fibroids, endometriosis), cholesterol or lipid problems, gallbladder disease, excessive weight gain, certain blood disorder (porphyria), any allergies. If you will be having surgery or will be confined to chair or bed for long period of time (e.g., a long plane flight), notify your pharmacist beforehand. Special precautions may need to be taken in these circumstances while you taking this drug. this pill may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. it med may cause patchy darkening about the skin on face (melasma). Sunlight may intensify it darkening & you may need to avoid prolonged sun exposure & sunlamps. Consult your healthcare professional regarding use of sunscreens and protective clothing. Cigarette smoking can increase chance of blood clots while taking it drug (especially in gir over age of 35). this medication must not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. it drug may pass into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on nursing infant. Therefore, breast-feeding while using it drug isn't recommended.

    Prempro Low Dose pill interactions: Before using this drug, tell you're pharmacist or healthcare professional of all prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially of: aminoglutethimide, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), hydantoins (e.g., phenytoin), warfarin, drugs which affect certain liver enzymes (CYP450-3A4 enzymes) such as azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), carbamazepine, macrolide antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), phenobarbital, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), ritonavir, cimetidine, St. John's Wort. this product can affect results of certain lab tests. Make sure laboratory personnel & youre pharmacists know you use it drug. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

    Prempro Low Dose Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe nausea/vomiting or excessive vaginal bleeding.

    Prempro Low Dose special notes: do not share this medication with others. Keep every appointments with you're doctor & laboratory. You should have complete physical examination, including blood pressure measurements, breast & pelvic examinations, & PAP test (for vaginal cancer), in least 1 time a year. You should also have periodic mammograms as determined by your healthcare professional. Follow your doctor's instructions for examining your own breasts, and report any lumps immediately. Non-drug therapy to help prevent bone loss includes weight-bearing exercise plan & adequate daily calcium and vitamin D. Consult your doctor or physician for more details.

    If you missed Prempro Low Dose dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near the clock of next dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.

    Prempro Low Dose Storage: Store at room temperature between 68 & 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light & moisture. do not store in bathroom. Keep every medicines away from kid and pets.
