Calcitrate Usage: Calcium plays a critical role in the body. Its essential for normal functioning of nerves, cells, muscle & bone. Vitamin D improves absorption of calcium in to the body. Calcium supplements are used to treat or prevent low blood calcium levels. Calcium may be prescribed since treatment of osteoporosis (bone loss), osteomalacia (brittle bones), rickets, tetany, parathyroid disease. Calcium supplements often used to ensure an adequate dietary intake in conditions such as pregnancy, nursing, kidney disease, pancreatitis or during therapy with anti-seizure medications.

How to use Calcitrate: Take this tablet orally as directed. this is best taken with or just after meal to improve absorption. Take each dose with a full glass of water.

Calcitrate side effects: this drug is generally well tolerated. Constipation may occur. Notify your pharmacist if you experience: nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, increased urination. Calcitrate Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: heart problems, kidney stones, allergies (especially drug allergies). this medication must be used as directed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.

If you missed Calcitrate dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; if this is near the time for the following dose, take both missed dose & regular scheduled dose then resume your usual dosing schedule.
