    Mesalamine - capsule

    Pentasa Usage: this pill is used to treat swelling & inflammation of colon or rectum. this is often used to treat ulcerative colitis.

    How to use Pentasa: Swallow capsules whole. do not crush or chew them. Take this medication exactly as prescribed. don't increase your dose or take it more often than directed. it may take up to 3 weeks for the effects of this pill to be noticed. If your symptoms do not improve or become worse while taking it drug, contact your physician.

    Pentasa side effects: Diarrhea, loss of appetite, headache, nausea, abdominal pain or indigestion may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform youre healthcare professional. Notify your doctor promptly if you develop: chest pain, fever, vomiting, increased urination, sore throat, bloody diarrhea or rectal pain, yellowing about eyes or skin, dark urine, unusual fatigue. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.

    Pentasa Precautions: Tell you're healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, asthma, allergies (especially to aspirin-like medications or to sulfasalazine). this medicine may cause stomach bleeding. per day use about alcohol, especially when combined with it medicine, may increase youre risk for stomach bleeding. bucks with your pharmacist or healthcare professional for more information. Before using it drug, tell some your doctor if you pregnant. Mesalamine is excreted into breast milk & may have undesirable effects on nursing infant. Consult some your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Pentasa tablet interactions: Tell your doctor of every over-the-counter & prescription tablet you may use, especially of: methotrexate, oral diabetes drugs, certain gout medicines (e.g., probenecid), sulfasalazine, olsalazine, acetazolamide-type drugs (CAI). don't start or stop any medicine without physician or physician approval.

    Pentasa Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include ringing in ears, headache, confusion, drowsiness, sweating, fast breathing, vomiting, & diarrhea.

    Pentasa special notes: do not share this med with others. Blood tests may be performed to monitor youre progress.

    If you missed Pentasa dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near clock for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Pentasa Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
