Lopid side effects: Stomach upset, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, gas, diarrhea, unusual taste, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, contact you're doctor or doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occurs: numbness or tingling about hands or feet, joint pain, decreased sexual desire or ability (impotence), depression. Tell you're pharmacist immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occurs: muscle pain/tenderness/weakness, fever, persistent sore throat, severe stomach pain with nausea & vomiting, yellowing of eyes and skin, dark urine, quick heartbeat. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

Lopid Precautions: this drug should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Limit alcoholic beverages. If you take insulin or oral diabetes med, your dose may need to be changed because gemfibrozil may, in few instances, increase amount of sugar in your blood. Discuss risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. it isnot known if gemfibrozil passes in to breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

Lopid drug interactions: Gemfibrozil shouldn't be used with the following drug because very serious effects (very low blood sugar) may occur: repaglinide. If you are currently using this pill, tell your physician or healthcare professional before starting gemfibrozil. Also, itraconazole shouldnot be used in combination with repaglinide and gemfibrozil because extremely low blood sugar could occur. Use caution if the next drugs combined with gemfibrozil because serious side effects such as muscle injury (myopathy) infrequently could occur: 'statins' (e.g., lovastatin, atorvastatin), high-dose niacin (1 gram or more per day). Before you take gemfibrozil, tell your physician about any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you are taking, especially of: anticoagulants ('blood thinners'), niacin. don't start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

Know what you're cholesterol level is and understand what it means. your physician, healthcare professional or nutritionist can provide you with valuable info. do not share this medication with others.

If you missed Lopid dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
