    Colestid Usage: this drug is used to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. High levels of cholesterol may block blood vessels, increasing risk of heart disease. for best results, this medication must be used along with an exercise program & low-cholesterol, low-fat diet.

    How to use Colestid: Swallow each tablet, one at a time, with a mouthful (1 ounce, 30 mls) about water or other liquid. it pill may be taken with food. this pill can interfere with other drugs if taken at same time. Try to take other meds one hour before or four to 6 hours after taking it tablet. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to help establish a dosing schedule if you are taking more than one medication. it may take a few weeks to months before full effects of this drug noticed.

    Colestid side effects: Constipation, stomach upset, heartburn, belching, gas, nausea, loss of appetite, aggravated hemorrhoids, change about taste, headache, or itching may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your physician. Notify you're pharmacist if you experience: unusual bruising or bleeding, severe stomach aches, vomiting. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or physician.

    Colestid Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: hemorrhoids, hypothyroidism, diabetes, constipation, stomach or intestinal problems, kidney or liver disease, blood disorders (e.g., anemias, low platelets), gall bladder problems. girl who are pregnant or breast-feeding must inform their pharmacist.

    Colestid drug interactions: Before you take this medication, tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription meds you are taking especially: digitoxin, digoxin, diuretics ('water pills'), penicillin, phenobarbital, phenylbutazone, propranolol, thyroid meds, tetracycline, 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin, heparin), certain vitamins (A, D, or E). do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.

    Colestid Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include constipation & feeling about fullness.

    Colestid special notes: your doctor may periodically perform lab tests during treatment to evaluate effectiveness of the medication. Know what your cholesterol level is and understand what it means. your doctor, pharmacist or nutritionist can provide you with valuable information. do not allow anyone else to take it med.

    If you missed Colestid dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; don't take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Colestid Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
