Zomig Usage: this drug is 'triptan'-type med used to treat migraine headache attacks. it does not prevent migraine headaches from occurring & should not be used for other types of headaches (e.g., cluster headaches).
How to use Zomig: the usual dose is one spray into one nostril as the headache occurs. Each spray device contains single dose. To administer correctly, blow some your nose gently before using it medication. Remove protective cap, & block one nostril by pressing firmly on the side of your nose. Place spray device into other nostril & breathe at gently as you press plunger on the spray device. Avoid spraying pill into your eyes. Keep you're head tilted slightly back, remove the tip from some your nose, & breathe gently through your mouth for 5 to 10 seconds. You may feel liquid in you're nose or the back of your throat. it is normal. If the headache returns, second spray may be used anytime after at least two hours pass from first dose if so directed by your healthcare professional. If you have no relief with first dose, do not take second dose without consulting some your physician. Use of more than 10 mg (two doses) at one day isn't recommended. Zomig side effects: Unusual taste, nausea, dry mouth, nose discomfort, sweating, weakness, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any about these unlikely but serious side effects occur: tingling or numbness of hands or feet, pain/pressure/tightness at any body chapter (e.g., chest, throat, jaw, neck). Tell your physician immediately if any about these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, severe stomach/abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea, vision changes, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, confusion. serious allergic reaction to this med is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms about a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or doctor.
Zomig Precautions: this medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or healthcare professional if you have: chest pain (angina), history of heart attack, other heart or blood vessel disease (e.g., coronary artery disease with vasospasm or ischemia), uncontrolled HBP, history of stroke, other types of headaches (hemiplegic or basilar migraines), certain blood circulation problems (e.g., peripheral vascular disease, ischemic bowel disease), severe liver disease. Before using this tablet, tell your physician or doctor youre medical history, especially of: high cholesterol, HBP, diabetes, smoking history, family history of heart disease or stroke, menopause, obesity, certain blood circulation disorders (e.g., Raynaud's syndrome), any allergies (especially to other 'triptan' migraine drugs). this tablet may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging at activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this med should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. it is not known whether this drug passes in to breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Zomig drug interactions: Certain tablets taken with this product could result in serious drug interactions. do not take MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) for at least 2 weeks before or after taking it drug. Also, do not take other 'triptan' migraine drugs (e.g., sumatriptan), or ergot-type drugs (e.g, dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, methysergide) within 24 hours of taking zolmitriptan. Before using this medication, tell youre doctor or pharmacist about all prescription & nonprescription/herbal goods you may use, especially of: birth control pills, cimetidine, sibutramine, SSRI antidepressants (e.g., citalopram, fluoxetine). Tell you're doctor if you take drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep (e.g., sedatives), tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine, or tricyclics such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). check labels on all some your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those goods. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.
Zomig Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness.
