    Eletriptan - oral

    (el-eh-trip-tan)

    common brand names: Relpax

    Relpax Usage: Eletriptan is 'triptan'-type medication used to treat migraine headache attacks. this does not prevent migraine headaches from occurring & shouldnot be used for other types about headaches (e.g., cluster headaches).

    How to use Relpax: Take it medication by mouth at first sign of migraine headache. If headache returns or you have no relief from first dose, a second dose of this drug may be taken two hours after the initial dose; but only if instructed to do so by some your healthcare professional. do not take more than two doses and do not exceed 80 mg of this drug in 24-hour time period. Read the Patient information Leaflet available from your pharmacist. If you have any questions, consult your healthcare professional or physician.

    Relpax side effects: Stomach upset, dizziness, or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your healthcare professional or pharmacist promptly. Tell some your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: tingling or numbness of the hands or feet, chest pain/pressure/tightness, throat pain/pressure/tightness, jaw or neck pain, trouble swallowing. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: unusually fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, one-sided weakness, vision problems, slurred speech. An allergic reaction to this med is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're physician or pharmacist.

    Relpax Precautions: this med shouldn't be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult you're doctor or doctor if you have: chest pain (angina), history of heart attacks, other heart or blood vessel disease (e.g., coronary artery disease with vasospasm or ischemia), uncontrolled high blood pressure, history of strokes, other types of headaches (hemiplegic or basilar migraines), certain blood circulation problems (e.g., peripheral vascular disease, ischemic bowel disease), severe liver disease. Before using this pill, tell your pharmacist or healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking history, family history of heart disease or stroke, menopause, excessive weight gain, certain blood vessel problems (e.g., Raynaud's syndrome), any allergies (especially to another 'triptan' migraine drugs). this drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Caution is advised when using it drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of drug. it drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your physician. this drug passes into breast milk & may have undesirable effects on nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Relpax drug interactions: this drug shouldn't be used within 72 hours of following drugs because very serious interactions may occur: azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), macrolides (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), protease inhibitors (e.g., nelfinavir, ritonavir), nefazodone. it drug shouldnot be used within 24 hours of following medications because very serious interactions may occur: other 'triptan' migraine meds (e.g., sumatriptan), ergot-type drugs (e.g., ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, methysergide). If you are currently using any of these meds, tell some your pharmacist or doctor before starting eletriptan. Before using this drug, tell your physician or physician of all prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially of: SSRI antidepressants (e.g., fluoxetine, citalopram), sibutramine, St. John's wort. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

    Relpax Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe dizziness or chest pain.

    Relpax special notes: don't share this drug with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed periodically to monitor some your progress or cash for side effects. Consult youre doctor for more details.

    If you missed Relpax dose: Not applicable.

    Relpax Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. do not store in bathroom. Keep every medicines away from children & pets.
