    Naproxen - oral

    (nah-prox-en)

    common brand names: Aleve, Anaprox, Naprosyn

    Aleve Usage: Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which relieves pain & swelling (inflammation). It's used to treat headaches, muscle aches, backaches, tendonitis, bursitis, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or gout. this medication is also used to reduce fever & to relieve minor aches & pain due to common cold or flu. this medication works by blocking enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling, & fever. don't give nonprescription goods containing this drug to children younger than 12 years of age unless directed to do so by pharmacist.

    How to use Aleve: Take this med by mouth with full glass (8 oz or 240 ml)of water unless youre physician directs you otherwise. do not lie down since at least 30 minutes after taking it drug. If stomach upset occurs while taking this drug, take it with food, milk, or an antacid. dosage is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), it may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before the full benefits of it drug take effect. If you use this pill for migraine headache, & the pain isnot relieved or worsens after 1st dose, tell your pharmacist immediately. for nonprescription products: If you are treating yourself or giving this drug to a kid for undiagnosed fever or pain, consult physician immediately if symptoms don't improve within 24 hours, worsen or last for more than 3 days, or if new symptoms appear.

    Aleve side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, & dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify you're physician or physician promptly. Tell youre pharmacist immediately if any about these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of the hands or feet, sudden or unexplained weight gain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Tell youre doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, rapid or pounding heartbeat, easy bruising or bleeding. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: change at amount of urine, severe headache, very stiff neck, mental/mood changes, persistent sore throat or fever. it pill may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from stomach or intestines. If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking naproxen and consult your pharmacist or healthcare professional immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks love coffee grounds. it pill may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any of following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking naproxen and consult some your physician or pharmacist immediately: yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual/extreme tiredness. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate healthcare professional attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.

    Aleve Precautions: this drug should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using it medicine, consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist if you have: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib). Before using this medication, tell your pharmacist or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, poorly controlled diabetes, stomach problems (e.g., bleeding, ulcers), heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure), HBP, swelling (edema, fluid retention), dehydration, blood disorders (e.g., anemia), bleeding or clotting problems, asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), history of an allergic reaction with symptoms of lip/tongue/throat swelling (angioedema), any allergies in addition to those listed above. this medication contains salt (sodium). Tell your doctor if you are on salt-restricted diet. this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging at activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this medicine may cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol & tobacco, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist for more information. it medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using it drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of drug, especially stomach bleeding & kidney effects. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during the 1-st 6 months about pregnancy. it isnot recommended for use during last 3 months about pregnancy due to potential for serious fetal harm & interference with normal labor/delivery. Discuss the risks & benefits with your physician. this pill passes at to breast milk. While there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Aleve drug interactions: Before using it drug, tell your pharmacist or doctor of every prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially of: alendronate, other medications for arthritis (e.g., aspirin, methotrexate), 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), cyclosporine, high blood pressure drugs (including ACE inhibitors such as captopril, angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan, & beta-blockers such as metoprolol), lithium, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib), probenecid, 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene). this product can affect results about certain lab tests. Make sure laboratory personnel & your healthcare professionals know you use this drug. cash every prescription & nonprescription medicine labels carefully since many contain pain relievers/fever reducers (NSAIDs such as aspirin or ibuprofen) which similar to it drug. Aspirin, as prescribed by your doctor for reasons such as heart attack or stroke prevention (usually these dosages are 81-325 mg per day), should be continued. Consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist for more details. don't start or stop any medicine with-out healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

    Aleve Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, extreme drowsiness, loss of consciousness, or seizures.

    Aleve special notes: do not share this drug with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed periodically to monitor youre progress or bucks for side effects. Consult you're doctor for more details.

    If you missed Aleve dose: If you prescribed this pill on regular schedule (not just 'as needed') & you miss dose, use this as soon as you remember. If it is near the clock of next dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.

    Aleve Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light & moisture. do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from kid and pets.
