Naprosyn Usage: Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which relieves pain & swelling (inflammation). this is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, backaches, tendonitis, bursitis, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or gout. this medication is also used to reduce fever & to relieve minor aches and pain due to the common cold or flu. it drug works by blocking the enzyme at you're body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling, & fever. do not give nonprescription products containing it medication to child younger than 12 years of age unless directed to do so by healthcare professional.
How to use Naprosyn: Take it medication by mouth with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml)of water unless your pharmacist directs you otherwise. do not lie down since at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. If stomach upset occurs while taking this medication, take it with food, milk, or an antacid. the dosage is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), this may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before full benefits about this drug take effect. If you use this medication for migraine headache, & the pain isn't relieved or worsens after the 1-st dose, tell your pharmacist immediately. for nonprescription products: If you treating yourself or giving it medication to kid for undiagnosed fever or pain, consult pharmacist immediately if symptoms don't improve within 24 hours, worsen or last for more than 3 days, or if new symptoms appear.
Naprosyn side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, & dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. Tell youre doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of hands or feet, sudden or unexplained weight gain, ringing in ears (tinnitus). Tell some your healthcare professional immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, rapid or pounding heartbeat, easy bruising or bleeding. Tell youre doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine, severe headache, very stiff neck, mental/mood changes, persistent sore throat or fever. this drug may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from stomach or intestines. If you notice any of following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking naproxen and consult your doctor or healthcare professional immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. it drug may sometimes cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking naproxen & consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist immediately: yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual/extreme tiredness. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate healthcare attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your healthcare professional or physician.
Naprosyn Precautions: this drug must not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib). Before using this medication, tell your doctor or physician your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, poorly controlled diabetes, stomach problems (e.g., bleeding, ulcers), heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure), high blood pressure, swelling (edema, fluid retention), dehydration, blood disorders (e.g., anemia), bleeding or clotting problems, asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), history of an allergic reaction with symptoms about lip/tongue/throat swelling (angioedema), any allergies in addition to those listed above. this drug contains salt (sodium). Tell your doctor if you are on salt-restricted diet. this med may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this medicine may cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol and tobacco, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase you're risk for stomach bleeding. Consult your doctor or doctor for more information. this medication may make you more sensitive to sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using it medication in elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of med, especially stomach bleeding and kidney effects. it med should be used only when clearly needed during the first 6 months of pregnancy. it isn't recommended since use during the last 3 months of pregnancy due to potential for fetal harm & interference with normal labor/delivery. Discuss risks & benefits with youre pharmacist. this medication passes in to breast milk. While there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Naprosyn medication interactions: Before using this medication, tell some your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription goods you may use, especially of: alendronate, other medications for arthritis (e.g., aspirin, methotrexate), 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), cyclosporine, hypertension drugs (including ACE inhibitors such as captopril, angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan, & beta-blockers such as metoprolol), lithium, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib), probenecid, 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene). this product can affect results of certain lab tests. Make sure laboratory personnel and your pharmacists know you use it med. check all prescription & nonprescription medicine labels carefully since much contain pain relievers/fever reducers (NSAIDs such as aspirin or ibuprofen) which are similar to this drug. Aspirin, as prescribed by your pharmacist for reasons such as heart attack or stroke prevention (usually these dosages 81-325 mg per day), should be continued. Consult you're pharmacist or pharmacist since more details. do not start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or doctor approval.
Naprosyn Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include: severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, unusually quick or slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, extreme drowsiness, loss of consciousness, or seizures.
Naprosyn special notes: don't share it tablet with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed periodically to monitor your progress or check for side effects. Consult youre doctor for more details.
If you missed Naprosyn dose: If you prescribed it tablet on regular schedule (not just 'as needed') and you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near time of following dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double the dose to catch up.
Naprosyn Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light & moisture. do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from child & pets.
