Advil Usage: Ibuprofen is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory pill (NSAID), which relieves pain & swelling (inflammation). it is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, backaches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or athletic injuries. this drug is also used to reduce fever & to relieve minor aches & pain due to the common cold or flu. this medication works by blocking the enzyme at your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling, and fever. this product is used primarily in kid. don't give it to a children younger than two years about age unless directed to do so by the doctor.
How to use Advil: Chew & swallow this drug and then follow with full glass of water (8oz or 240ml) unless your healthcare professional directs you otherwise. do not lie down for in least 30 minutes after taking this drug. If stomach upset occurs while taking it drug, take this with food, milk, or an antacid. the dosage is based on your child's weight, medical condition, and response to therapy. Read the product instructions to find appropriate dose for your child's weight, or consult the pharmacist or healthcare professional if you have questions. If repeat doses are needed, they usually given six or 8 hours apart; or as directed by pharmacist. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), it may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before full benefits of it drug take effect. If you use this pill for migraine headache, and the pain isn't relieved or worsens after first dose, tell doctor immediately. If you giving this medication to a child for undiagnosed fever or pain, consult doctor immediately if symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, worsen or last for more than 3 days, or if new symptoms appear.
Advil side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, & dizziness may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, notify healthcare professional or pharmacist promptly. Tell physician immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of the hands or feet, sudden or unexplained weight gain, ringing at the ears (tinnitus). Tell doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, rapid or pounding heartbeat, easy bruising or bleeding. Tell the doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine, severe headache, very stiff neck, mental/mood changes, persistent sore throat or fever. this drug may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. If you notice any of following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen & consult doctor or healthcare professional immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. this drug may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any about the next highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen & consult the pharmacist or physician immediately: yellowing eyes & skin, dark urine, unusual/extreme tiredness. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact the doctor or healthcare professional.
Advil Precautions: this pill should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult healthcare professional or pharmacist if you're child has: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib). Before using this drug, tell doctor or pharmacist your child's medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, poorly controlled diabetes, stomach problems (e.g., bleeding, ulcers), heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure), HBP, swelling (edema, fluid retention), dehydration, blood disorders (e.g., anemia), bleeding or clotting problems, asthma, growths in nose (nasal polyps), history about an allergic reaction with symptoms of lip/tongue/throat swelling (angioedema), any allergies in addition to those listed above. this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. Limit alcohol intake as it may intensify the side effects of this medication. this medicine can cause stomach bleeding. daily use about alcohol & tobacco, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase some your risk for stomach bleeding. Consult healthcare professional or pharmacist for more information. this med may make you more sensitive to sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use a sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. it medicine may contain aspartame. If you have phenylketonuria (PKU) or any other condition where you must restrict your intake of aspartame (or phenylalanine), consult physician or pharmacist regarding the safe use of this medicine. Caution is advised when using this pill in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of the tablet, especially stomach bleeding and kidney effects. this medication must be used only when clearly needed during the 1st 6 months about pregnancy. It's not recommended for use during the last 3 months about pregnancy due to the potential for serious fetal harm and interference with normal labor/delivery. Discuss risks and benefits with the healthcare professional. this medication passes into breast milk. While their have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult doctor before breast-feeding.
Advil med interactions: Before using this drug, tell the pharmacist or pharmacist about all prescription & nonprescription products your kid may use, especially of: alendronate, other meds for arthritis (e.g., aspirin, methotrexate), 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), cyclosporine, HBP pills (including ACE inhibitors such as captopril, angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan, & beta-blockers such as metoprolol), lithium, other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib), 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene). money every prescription & nonprescription medicine labels carefully since many contain pain relievers/fever reducers (NSAIDs such as aspirin or naproxen) which similar to this drug. Ask pharmacist or healthcare professional about safe use of those products. don't start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Advil Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, extreme drowsiness, loss of consciousness, or seizures.
Advil special notes: don't share this drug with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed periodically to monitor youre child's progress or check for side effects. Consult the pharmacist for more details.
If you missed Advil dose: If you prescribed this drug on regular schedule (not just 'as needed') and you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near time of the next dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
