Profen Ib Usage: Ibuprofen is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which relieves pain and swelling (inflammation). Its used to treat headaches, muscle aches, backaches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or athletic injuries. this med is also used to reduce fever and to relieve minor aches and pain due to common cold or flu. it drug works by blocking the enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling, and fever.
How to use Profen Ib: Take this medication by mouth with full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this med. If stomach upset occurs while taking this medication, take it with food, milk, or an antacid. the dosage is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. If repeat doses are needed, they usually given 6 or 8 hours apart; or as directed by your doctor. When ibuprofen is used in children, dose is based on you're child's weight. Read product instructions to find appropriate dose for youre child's weight. Consult pharmacist or doctor if you have questions or if you need help at choosing appropriate dosage form. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), it may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before full benefits of this drug take effect. If you use this medication for migraine headache, & the pain isnt relieved or worsens after first dose, tell your physician immediately. for nonprescription ibuprofen products: If you are treating yourself or giving it medication to child for undiagnosed fever or pain, consult pharmacist immediately if symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, worsen or last since more than 3 days, or if new symptoms appear.
Profen Ib side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, and dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of hands or feet, sudden or unexplained weight gain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Tell your pharmacist immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, rapid or pounding heartbeat, easy bruising or bleeding. Tell your physician immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine, severe headache, very stiff neck, mental/mood changes, persistent sore throat or fever. this med may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. If you notice any of the next unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking ibuprofen & consult your doctor or doctor immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. this pill may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking ibuprofen & consult you're pharmacist or physician immediately: yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual/extreme tiredness. An allergic reaction to it drug is unlikely, but seek immediate doctor attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or physician.
Profen Ib Precautions: this med should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using it medicine, consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist if you have: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib). Before using this medication, tell your pharmacist or healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, poorly controlled diabetes, stomach problems (e.g., bleeding, ulcers), heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure), HBP, swelling (edema, fluid retention), dehydration, blood disorders (e.g., anemia), bleeding or clotting problems, asthma, growths in nose (nasal polyps), history of an allergic reaction with symptoms of lip/tongue/throat swelling (angioedema), any allergies in addition to those listed above. this med may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this medicine can cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol & tobacco, especially when combined with it medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Consult your pharmacist or doctor for more information. this medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use a sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. Caution is advised when using this drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects about drug, especially stomach bleeding & kidney effects. this med must be used only when clearly needed during the 1st 6 months of pregnancy. It's not recommended for use during last 3 months about pregnancy due to the potential for serious harm and interference with normal labor/delivery. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. this drug passes into breast milk. While their have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Profen Ib med interactions: Before using this medication, tell you're physician or healthcare professional of all prescription & nonprescription goods you may use, especially of: alendronate, other medications since arthritis (e.g., aspirin, methotrexate), 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), cyclosporine, high blood pressure drugs (including ACE inhibitors such as captopril, angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan, and beta-blockers such as metoprolol), lithium, another NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib), 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene). cash every prescription and nonprescription medicine labels carefully since many contain pain relievers/fever reducers (NSAIDs such as aspirin or naproxen) which are similar to this medication. If you also taking aspirin, as prescribed by your doctor for reasons such as heart attack or stroke prevention (usually these dosages are 81-325 mg per day), continue to take the aspirin & consult some your healthcare professional or pharmacist before taking ibuprofen. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.
Profen Ib Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, extreme drowsiness, loss of consciousness, or seizures.

If you missed Profen Ib dose: If you prescribed this med on regular schedule (not just 'as needed') and you miss dose, use this as soon as you remember. If It's near time of the following dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double the dose to catch up.
