Vioxx Usage: it medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), specifically COX-2 inhibitor, which relieves pain & swelling (inflammation). It's used to treat arthritis, acute pain, & menstrual pain and discomfort. this drug works by blocking enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain & swelling.
How to use Vioxx: Take by mouth, generally once daily, or as directed by your doctor. To decrease chance of stomach upset, it medication is best taken with food. Dosage is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. Take this medication with full glass of water (8 oz or 240 ml) unless you're doctor directs you otherwise. do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking this drug. Read the Patient information Leaflet available from youre physician. Review the leaflet with each refill in case there is any new information.
Vioxx side effects: Stomach upset or tiredness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your physician or physician promptly. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unexplained weight gain, swelling of the hands or feet, change in amount of urine. Tell you're doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: severe headache, very stiff neck, mental/mood changes. this medication may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. If you notice any of the next highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking rofecoxib & consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: black stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, persistent stomach/abdominal pain. this drug may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immeditial medical attention: yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, unusual fatigue. in unlikely episode you have an allergic reaction to this med, seek immeditial medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Vioxx Precautions: this medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult you're healthcare professional or physician if you have: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), or other COX-2 inhibitors (e.g., celecoxib). Before using this pill, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease (e.g., history of heart attack, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure), history of strokes, history of blood clots, alcohol use, swelling (edema), blood disorders (anemia), serious infections, stomach problems (bleeding or ulcers), asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), dehydration, poorly controlled diabetes, any allergies in addition to those listed above. this medicine can cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Consult your physician or pharmacist for more information. Caution is advised when using it drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects about this medication, especially stomach bleeding & kidney effects. it medication should be used only when clearly needed during 1-st 6 months of pregnancy. it shouldn't be used during the last 3 months about pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your pharmacist. this is not known whether this med is excreted in to breast milk. Due to potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this tablet isnt recommended.
Vioxx drug interactions: Before using it drug, tell you're physician or healthcare professional of all prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially of: high blood pressure drugs such as ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, benazepril), 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), lithium, methotrexate, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen), rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), theophylline, tizanidine, 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene). check every prescription & nonprescription medicine labels carefully for many contain pain relievers/fever reducers (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin) which similar to this drug. Aspirin, as prescribed by your healthcare professional for reasons such as heart attack or stroke prevention (usually these dosages are 81-325 mg per day), should be continued. Consult you're physician or physician for more details. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Vioxx Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, change in amount of urine, slow or shallow breathing, severe headache or loss of consciousness.
Vioxx special notes: do not share it medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor some your progress.
If you missed Vioxx dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Vioxx Storage: Store at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light & moisture. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. don't store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children & pets.
