    Lodoxamide - ophthalmic

    (low-dox-uh-mide, off-thal-mick)

    common brand names: Alomide

    Alomide Usage: this is an antiallergy medication used to treat certain eye conditions.

    How to use Alomide: Apply this drug to the eye as directed; usually one or two drops in the affected eyes up to four times a day. Therapy may be continued for as long as 3 months. Apply eye drops to affected eyes as follows: Wash hands 1'st. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch dropper or let this touch your eye. Tilt youre head back, gaze upward and pull down lower eyelid to make pouch. Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number about drops. see downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of eye near nose & apply gentle pressure. this will prevent drug from draining away from eye. Try not to blink & do not rub the eye. do not rinse dropper. Wash hands after use. If you using another kind of eye drop, wait in least 5 minutes before applying other medications. do not apply it more often or continue using this for longer then prescribed.

    Alomide side effects: this drug may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for minute or 2 when 1-st applied. there have also been reports of headache. another side effects rarely reported include, increased tearing, dry eye, or sneezing. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform youre doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for period after applying eye drops. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify you're pharmacist if you develop: a skin rash, eye pain, swelling in or around eyes, vision problems. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Alomide Precautions: Tell some your physician if you have: illnesses, any allergies. Avoid wearing soft contact lenses while using this drug because they may become damaged. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss risks & benefits with your pharmacist.

    Alomide med interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: other eye drug. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Alomide Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

    Alomide special notes: the effectiveness of this medication over long periods has not been established. don't use this for longer than prescribed.

    If you missed Alomide dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if It's near time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Alomide Storage: Close container tightly after each use. Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not freeze. Discard it if solution turns color, cloudy or contains particles.
