Buphenyl Usage: this tablet helps remove excess nitrogen from body. at addition to diet, this tablet is used to manage the effects of certain metabolic disorders (urea cycle disorders).
How to use Buphenyl: Take by mouth or by feeding tube (nasogastric tube or gastrostomy), as directed. Dosage is based on you're size/weight, condition & response to therapy. Generally the total daily dose is divided into equal amounts & given with each meal (i.e., three times per day). the powder must be mixed with solid or liquid food. don't mix with acidic beverages (e.g., orange juice). Shake powder before use.
Buphenyl side effects: Loss of appetite may occur. If this effect persists or worsens, notify your physician promptly. Report promptly: changes in menstrual period, body odor or taste changes. Unlikely but report promptly: mental/mood changes, tiredness or drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, headache. Very unlikely but report promptly: stomach pain, bloody stools, persistent sore throat or fever, unusual bruising, irregular heartbeat, rash, hearing changes, fainting, swelling. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Buphenyl Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, including: any allergies, heart disease (congestive heart failure), kidney disease, liver disease, swelling (edema). Each 1 gram of this medicine contains 124 mg of sodium. Use with caution at cases of salt-restricted diets. Consult youre doctor. Limit alcohol intake, as this may intensify certain drug effects. Caution is advised when performing tasks requiring alertness (e.g., driving) as this drug may cause drowsiness or dizziness. it pill should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with youre healthcare professional. it isn't known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult youre physician before breast-feeding.
Buphenyl med interactions: Tell your pharmacist of every prescription & nonprescription drug you may use, especially: probenecid, haloperidol, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), seizure medicine, (e.g., valproic acid). Tell your physician if you take any tablets that make you drowsy, such as: sedatives, tranquilizers, certain psychiatric medications (e.g., chlorpromazine, amitriptyline), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine). many nonprescription medicines (such as cough-cold products) contain antihistamines. USD labels carefully and consult some your physician. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or healthcare professional approval.
Buphenyl Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Buphenyl special notes: do not share this drug with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests should be performed routinely to monitor for side effects & response to therapy.
If you missed Buphenyl dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near the time of next dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Buphenyl Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
