    Lamotrigine chewable/dispersible med - oral

    common brand names: Lamictal

    Warning: rarely, serious (sometimes fatal) skin rashes have occurred while using this pill. These rashes (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome) are more common in children (less then 16 years old) than in adults. Therefore, lamotrigine should only be used in children who have partial seizures or seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Immediately notify your pharmacist if you develop any type of rash. If it medication is cause of the rash, drug must be stopped. Even after stopping this medication, It's still possible for the rash to cause permanent or life-threatening scarring along with other problems. possibility about a rash may be increased by using too much this medication when treatment begins, increasing dose beyond what youre doctor prescribes during treatment, or taking valproic acid with lamotrigine. the majority of the life-threatening rashes have occurred within 2 to 8 weeks of starting this medication. However, such serious rashes have also occurred after six months of use.

    Simular Drugs : Lamictal, Lamictal

    Lamictal Usage: it medication helps control seizure disorders. Use of lamotrigine in children two years of age & older is restricted to those having certain types of seizures (partial or Lennox-Gastaut type).

    How to use Lamictal: this pill may be swallowed whole, chewed, or dissolved in water (or diluted fruit juice). If it medication is chewed, drink some water or diluted fruit juice to help swallow the medicine completely. To dissolve this medication before placing this in your mouth, fill glass with enough liquid to cover pills completely (about one teaspoonful). Drop the tablets into glass. Wait one minute, then swirl liquid, then drink it immediately. for best effects, take this medication in evenly spaced times as directed. this will ensure a constant level about medication in your body. do not take this more often or increase your dose without consulting your doctor. do not stop taking this drug suddenly without your doctor's approval since seizures may reoccur. Notify your doctor if seizure control worsens.

    Lamictal side effects: Headache, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, weakness, clumsiness may occur 1st few days as your body adjusts to the drug. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're healthcare professional. If you develop a rash, stop using this drug & seek immediate medical attention. at unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this tablet, seek immeditial medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, hives, fever, swollen glands, swelling of the lips or tongue, painful sores in the mouth or around the eyes, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or doctor.

    Lamictal Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional if you have: other illnesses, heart problems, liver problems, kidney problems, allergies (especially drug allergies). Sunscreen and/or protective clothing is recommended to protect against possible severe rash triggered by sunlight. Use caution operating machinery or engaging in activities requiring alertness. Limit alcohol intake while taking this drug. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with youre healthcare professional. this medication is excreted in to breast milk. Due to possible risks to nursing infants, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor.

    Lamictal drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription pill you use, especially of: other pills for seizures (e.g., phenytoin, carbamazepine, valproic acid, phenobarbital, primidone). do not start or stop any medicine with-out healthcare professional or doctor approval.

    Lamictal Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusual dizziness, severe headache, unusual sleepiness, & loss of consciousness.

    Lamictal special notes: Laboratory tests may be done periodically while taking this medication to monitor the effects. see you're healthcare professional regularly.

    If you missed Lamictal dose: Try to take each dose at scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the clock for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Lamictal Storage: Store this medication at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from heat, light and moisture. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. do not store in the bathroom. Keep this & all medications out of the reach of kid.
