Lactulose Usage: this drug is used to treat and prevent complications of liver disease.
Lactulose canbe used also for: it pill may also be used for treating constipation (oral use).
How to use Lactulose: this drug may be taken by mouth, or may be given rectally. To improve the taste, the oral dose may be mixed at a glass of fruit juice, water or milk. Take this drug as prescribed.
Lactulose side effects: it medication can cause gas, belching or stomach cramps. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform youre doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact some your healthcare professional or doctor.
Lactulose Precautions: this drug must be used cautiously in children & the elderly. If diarrhea results, notify your doctor. a dosage adjustment may be necessary. do not take any laxative medications while taking it tablet as additional laxative effect may increase risk of developing diarrhea which in turn may lead to dehydration. Symptoms of dehydration include muscle weakness, muscle cramps and dizziness. this drug contains galactose & lactose. Be sure to tell your pharmacist if you have diabetes. it pill must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. Its not known if it medication appears in breast milk. Consult with your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Lactulose drug interactions: Tell your physician about every prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: antibiotics (e.g., neomycin), antacids. do not use laxatives while taking this drug. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Lactulose Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include stomach cramps & diarrhea.
Lactulose special notes: do not share this product with others.
If you missed Lactulose dose: If you miss dose, use this as soon as remembered; do not use if this is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Lactulose Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight & moisture. Avoid freezing.
