    Sodium polystyrene sulfonate - oral suspension

    Sps Usage: this medication is used to treat high levels of potassium in body (hyperkalemia).

    How to use Sps: Shake well before each use. Take by mouth, usually 15 grams (60ml or two ounces) 1 to 4 times daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. do not use salt substitutes with out consulting your doctor.

    Sps side effects: Nausea, stomach pain, loss about appetite, constipation or diarrhea may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Unlikely but report promptly: swelling, muscle cramps, dizziness, mental or mood changes. Very unlikely but report promptly: fast/slow/irregular pulse, weakness, muscle spasm. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre physician or physician.

    Sps Precautions: Tell some your healthcare professional your medical history, including: allergies, heart disease, kidney disease, hypertension, swelling (edema). this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your physician. It's not known whether this med is excreted into breast milk. Consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.

    Sps drug interactions: Tell you're doctor of all nonprescription & prescription medication you use, especially of: calcium-, aluminum or magnesium-containing antacids or laxatives, certain 'water pills' (potassium sparing diuretics such as amiloride), digoxin. don't start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Sps Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Sps special notes: do not share this med with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress.

    If you missed Sps dose: If you miss a dose, use this as soon as you remember. If this is near the time of following dose, skip the missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Sps Storage: Store in tight containers at room temperature between 59 - 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.

    Medical alert: your condition can cause complications in medical emergency.
