    Sevelamer - oral

    (seh-vell-uh-mer)

    common brand names: Renagel

    Renagel Usage: Sevelamer is used to treat dialysis patients (with kidney disease) who have high phosphorus levels at they're blood.

    How to use Renagel: Take this medication by mouth usually 3 times daily with meals; or take as directed by your healthcare professional. dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Swallow it drug whole; do not crush or chew this medicine. If you are using capsule form about it drug, do not crush, chew, or open capsules. don't take other oral medications within 1 hour before, or 3 hours after taking this med. Doing so could decrease the effectiveness about another medications. Consult your doctor.

    Renagel side effects: Headache, diarrhea, gas, heartburn, vomiting, or constipation may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your healthcare professional promptly. Tell youre pharmacist immediately if any of these serious side effects occurs: dizziness, blurred vision. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: trouble breathing, unusually fast heartbeat, pain/redness/swelling in the lower legs. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or doctor.

    Renagel Precautions: this medication isn't recommended for use if you have following medical conditions: low blood phosphorus levels, bowel obstruction. Tell your healthcare professional some your medical history, especially about: stomach problems (e.g., motility disorders), stomach/intestinal surgeries, swallowing problems (dysphagia), any allergies you may have. this med should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your pharmacist. It's not known whether this medication passes in to breast milk. Because of potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using it med isnt recommended. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.

    Renagel drug interactions: Tell your doctor of all prescription & nonprescription drug you may use especially: calcium supplements. Sevelamer may interfere with effectiveness of much about drugs by decreasing the absorption of other drugs from stomach. Consult you're pharmacist about best times to take your meds. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Renagel Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Renagel special notes: do not share it medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress.

    If you missed Renagel dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is near the time about next dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.

    Renagel Storage: Store at room temperature (77 degrees F or 25 degrees C) away from light & moisture. Brief storage is permitted between 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C).

    Medical alert: some your condition can cause complications in medical emergency.
