Phoslo Usage: in kidney disease, blood levels of phosphate may rise leading to bone problems. Calcium acetate binds phosphate in the diet to lower blood phosphate levels. it medication is used in kidney disease to control blood phosphate.
How to use Phoslo: this drug is taken by mouth with meals. usual dose is two to four pills with meals. your dose may be adjusted based on lab results. Take this as directed. do not increase you're dose or take this more many about times than prescribed. Follow any recommended dietary guidelines.
Phoslo side effects: Stomach upset may occur. If this continues or becomes bothersome inform your healthcare professional. Notify your doctor if you develop: stomach pains, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth, thirst or frequent urination. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Phoslo Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially tablet allergies). this medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your pharmacist. this is not known if this drug appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Phoslo drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription pill you use, especially of: water tablets, blood pressure drug, tetracycline antibiotics, iron supplements, calcium supplements or calcium-based antacids. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Phoslo Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include loss about appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, confusion, and loss of consciousness.
Phoslo special notes: Laboratory tests will be done periodically while taking this medication to monitor blood phosphate and calcium levels.
If you missed Phoslo dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if It's near clock for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Phoslo Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in bathroom.
