    Sulfamethoxazole with trimethoprim - injection

    Septra I V Usage: this antibiotic is used to treat wide variety of infections.

    How to use Septra I V: this medication must be administered as directed by your healthcare professional. Antibiotics work best when amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do this by using the drug at evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night. Continue to use this medication until full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in relapse of infection.

    Septra I V side effects: this drug can cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, headache or vomiting. If any about these effects persist or become severe, inform your physician. Sulfonamides may increase sensitivity to sunlight. sometimes, it medication can cause serious, even fatal, side effects such as a severe peeling skin rash known as Stevens- Johnson syndrome, blood disorders (e.g., agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia), or liver damage. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop any of following symptoms: skin rash or blisters, unusual fatigue, persistent sore throat or fever, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, abdominal pain. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or physician.

    Septra I V Precautions: Tell youre healthcare professional your medical history, especially about: liver or kidney problems, asthma or other breathing problems, blood disorders, any allergies (especially med allergies). this drug may make you prone to sunburn. If you become sun sensitive, wear protective clothing and sunscreen. this medication should not be used in infants younger than 2 months. However, if decision is made to use this medication in infants (neonates), it should be known that a preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or at liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the 1'st months about life (neonatal period). the risk is greater with lower birth weight infants & is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the healthcare professional immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. a preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). the risk is greater with lower birth weight infants & is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the physician immediately should they occur. If possible, preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. this pill should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy & use of this drug isn't recommended near term. Discuss risks and benefits with youre doctor. this medication is excreted into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast- feeding.

    Septra I V drug interactions: Inform your doctor about every medicines you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially about: other antibiotics, warfarin, oral drugs for diabetes, phenytoin, methotrexate, cyclosporine, oral PABA. do not start or stop any medicine with-out healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

    Septra I V Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, depression, blood in urine, & loss of consciousness.

    Septra I V special notes: Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication unless your physician directs you otherwise. this med has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use it later for another infection or give it to someone else. different medication may be necessary.

    If you missed Septra I V dose: If you must miss dose, use it as soon as remembered unless it is almost clock for next dose. If it is nearly clock for following dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.

    Septra I V Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight. don't refrigerate.
