Flagyl Usage: Metronidazole is an antibiotic used to treat a variety about infections.
How to use Flagyl: this med should be taken with food or a full glass of water or milk to prevent stomach upset. Antibiotics work best when amount of medicine in your body is kept at constant level. Do this by taking the drug at evenly spaced intervals throughout day and night. Continue to take this med until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after some days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.
Flagyl side effects: Dizziness, headache, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, change at taste sensation or dry mouth may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, contact your physician. Unlikely but report: seizures, loss of consciousness, tingling of hands or feet. Very unlikely but report: unsteadiness, mood/mental changes, rash, itching, sore throat, fever, severe stomach pain, vomiting, vaginal irritation. this med may cause urine to darken in color. this is not harmful. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or pharmacist.
Flagyl Precautions: Tell youre pharmacist your medical history especially of: liver problems, seizure disorders, any allergies. Use of it drug since prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Avoid alcoholic beverages while taking this medication and for at least 3 days after finishing it medicine because severe stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, headache & flushing may occur. Tell your pharmacist if you pregnant before using this drug. it should not be used during the 1st 3 months about pregnancy & used with caution during last six months. this drug is excreted into breast milk and using this while breast-feeding isn't recommended. Consult your doctor.
Flagyl drug interactions: Inform you're doctor about all medicines you may use (both prescription and nonprescription) especially if you take: phenobarbital, 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin). do not take this medicine if you are currently taking disulfiram. Contact your physician. don't start or stop any medicine with-out pharmacist or doctor approval.
Flagyl Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, & seizures.
Flagyl special notes: Treatment about certain infections (trichomoniasis), may require that sexual partners be treated as well to avoid reinfection. During therapy, refrain from sexual intercourse or wear a condom. it med has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use it later for other infection or give it to someone else. different drug may be necessary in those cases.
If you missed Flagyl dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double the dose to catch up.
Flagyl Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture & sunlight. don't store in bathroom.
