Methimazole Usage: this medication prevents thyroid gland from producing thyroid hormone. It's used to treat hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland) and to prepare thyroid for surgery.
How to use Methimazole: Take this medication at regular intervals around the time, usually 3 times daily, all eight hours. Or take as directed by you're physician.
Methimazole side effects: it drug may cause stomach upset, nausea, loss of taste sensation, headache, drowsiness or dizziness. If any of these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your pharmacist. Notify your pharmacist if you experience any of following: fever, sore throat, easy or unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, yellowing of the eyes or skin, vomiting, general weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Methimazole Precautions: Tell some your pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, blood disorders, any allergies you may have. Before you have surgery, including dental surgery, tell pharmacist that you take this medication. Methimazole isn't recommended since use during pregnancy. Methimazole drug interactions: Tell youre doctor of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: warfarin, digoxin, beta-blockers (e.g., metoprolol, propranolol). do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Methimazole Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, headache, fever, & joint pain.
