Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide Usage: this combination pill is used to treat HBP (hypertension). Methyldopa relaxes blood vessels resulting at lowered blood pressure. Thiazide diuretics, 'water meds,' reduce fluid accumulation (edema) by increasing urination.

How to use Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide: May be taken with food or milk to avoid stomach irritation. Take this medication exactly as prescribed. Try to take it at the same times each day. Its important to continue taking this drug even if you feel well. most person with HBP do not feel sick. do not stop taking this medication with out consulting you're pharmacist. several conditions may become worse when it pill is suddenly stopped.

Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, headache, gas, dry mouth, fatigue or stomach upset may occur 1'st some weeks as youre body adjusts to pill. it medication causes increased urination. Expect this effect. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. this medication may increase sensitivity to sunlight. Inform your physician if you develop: chest pain, difficulty breathing, depression, severe stomach cramps, unusual bleeding or bruising, rash, flu symptoms, yellowing of the eyes or skin. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide Precautions: Tell your doctor youre medical history, especially of: liver problems, drug allergies. Limit alcohol intake to minimize dizziness & lightheadedness. it med may increase you're sensitivity to sunlight. Wear protective clothing & sunscreen. Avoid sunlamps. this drug isnt recommended for use during pregnancy. it drug appears in breast milk. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding.

Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide drug interactions: it pill is not recommended for use with: dofetilide. Ask youre doctor or pharmacist for more details. Tell youre pharmacist of every medicines you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially of: lithium, digoxin, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), levodopa, antidepressants, iron supplements. Avoid any drugs that increase your heart rate like the decongestants phenylephrine or phenylpropanolamine. These drugs are commonly found in cough-and-cold products & may affect youre blood pressure medicine. If you take cholestyramine or colestipol since high cholesterol, take this HBP medicine 1 hour before or four hours after. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.

Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose include excessive sleepiness, weakness, fatigue, dizziness, slowed heartbeat, confusion, vomiting, constipation, & diarrhea.

Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide special notes: it is important to have some your blood pressure checked regularly while taking it drug. Learn how to monitor you're blood pressure. Discuss this with your doctor. this drug may cause potassium loss. Symptoms of low potassium include dry mouth, thirst, muscle cramps. Ask youre physician about increasing your potassium intake.

If you missed Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if It's almost time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

Methyldopa Hydrochlorothiazide Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture.
