    Aluminum w/magnesium hydroxide - oral

    (uh-lew-mih-num with mag-nee-zee-um hi-drox-ide)

    common brand names: Di-Gel, Gaviscon, Gelusil, Maalox, Mylanta, Wingel

    Magalox PLUS Usage: this is an antacid that works in the stomach to neutralize & reduce acid. Antacids are used to treat an upset stomach caused by heartburn, acid indigestion, or sour stomach; to treat peptic ulcer, hiatal hernia or other conditions caused by an excess about stomach acid; and to prevent ulcers or bleeding from ulcers.

    How to use Magalox PLUS: Take this drug as prescribed. Taking too much an antacid can reverse effects & more acid will be secreted. in certain conditions, however, it may be necessary to take antacid as frequently as every 1 to 2 hours. To be effective, chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing followed by a full glass of water. Shake liquid forms well before pouring each dose. do not take any other medication within 1 to two hours of taking an antacid. since antacids coat the stomach, they can prevent other medications from being absorbed properly if taken at the same clock.

    Magalox PLUS side effects: it med can cause nausea, loss of appetite, constipation or diarrhea, weakness, or headache. If these symptoms persist or become severe, notify youre doctor. Notify your physician if you notice black, tarry stools while taking it med. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.

    Magalox PLUS Precautions: Tell your pharmacist some your medical history, especially about: kidney problems.

    Magalox PLUS medication interactions: Tell your doctor about every prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: tetracycline, ferrous sulfate (iron), drugs used since arthritis (e.g., aspirin, indomethacin), digoxin, isoniazid, pseudoephedrine, diazepam, methenamine, ketoconazole. don't start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.

    Magalox PLUS Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, fatigue, weakness, severe nausea & vomiting, loss about appetite, drowsiness, slow or shallow breathing, or loss of consciousness.

    Magalox PLUS special notes: Refrigerating liquid antacids may improve the taste. do not freeze. If you dislike the taste about one antacid, talk to your pharmacist or pharmacist about switching to similar product. the liquid antacid forms work faster & are more effective than the other forms. However, chewable tablets may be more convenient.

    If you missed Magalox PLUS dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost clock for next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Magalox PLUS Storage: Store pills, capsules & powdered forms at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in bathroom. do not freeze liquid forms of it drug.
