Guaifenesin DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. it combination medication is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Guaifenesin DM: Take this drug as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase you're dose or take it more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased.
Guaifenesin DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the 1st several days as your body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Notify youre physician if you develop any of these effects while taking this med: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre healthcare professional or doctor.
Guaifenesin DM Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional youre medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. since small amounts about this med are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Guaifenesin DM drug interactions: Tell your doctor about any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Guaifenesin DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.
Guaifenesin DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it med. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Guaifenesin DM dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the clock for next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Guaifenesin DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
