Decongestant/narcotic antitussive/antihistamine - oral
Tuss Pd Usage: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. the low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control cough. the antihistamine is for relief from sneezing, runny nose, water eyes. this combination product is used to treat symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, hay fever and another respiratory illnesses.
How to use Tuss Pd: Take it medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. this medication is best taken with full glass of water after meal or snack.
Tuss Pd side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset or dry mouth may occur first some days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations, breathing trouble. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or pharmacist.
Tuss Pd Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, history of drug dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this drug causes you to feel drowsy. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain it product has PPA. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with some your doctor. since small amounts of this drug are found in breast milk, consult some your doctor before breast-feeding.
Tuss Pd drug interactions: Tell you're pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription med you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping tablets, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), cimetidine, narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine). Limit some your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Tuss Pd Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, weakness, profuse sweating, slow or fast heartbeat, slow or shallow breathing, hyperactivity, fever, seizures, or unconsciousness.
Tuss Pd special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. this will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Tuss Pd dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take this if it is near clock for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Tuss Pd Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in bathroom.
