Cortisporin Usage: this medication is used to treat or prevent eye infections.
How to use Cortisporin: since best effects, this drug must be used as directed. Continue using this since full time prescribed. Stopping this medication too soon may not clear infection and could possibly result in reinfection. Apply eye ointment to the affected eyes as follows: Wash hands 1-st. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch you're eye. Rolling ointment tube in your hands for a minute will make ointment flow easier. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down lower eyelid to make pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into pouch by squeezing tube gently. Close eye & roll the eyeball at every directions to spread the medication. Try not to blink & do not rub the eye. Wipe the tip of ointment tube with tissue to remove excess drug before capping it. If you using an eye drop at addition to it medication, apply the eye drops first & wait at least five minutes before applying this eye ointment. If you are using another type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes after using this drug before applying it.
Cortisporin side effects: this drug may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for minute or two when first applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform some your healthcare professional. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: skin rash, itching/burning/redness/pain/swelling at or around eyes, vision problems. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.
Cortisporin Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: another eye problems, allergies (especially to any antibiotics or sulfites). this medication must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks & benefits with youre pharmacist.
Cortisporin drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Cortisporin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Cortisporin special notes: If condition since which it was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after few days, consult your pharmacist.
If you missed Cortisporin dose: If you miss a dose, use this as soon as remembered; don't use it if it is near the clock since the following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Cortisporin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. money expiration date on tube and discard any expired medication.
