    Corticosteroids - oral

    Cortisone Acetate Usage: it drug is a corticosteroid. this reduces swelling. It's used for many conditions, among them: allergic reactions, skin diseases (psoriasis, hives), breathing problems; certain cancers, blood disorders, & eye problems; arthritis, digestive problems, and since hormone replacement.

    How to use Cortisone Acetate: Take with food or immediately after meal to prevent stomach upset. Take this pill as prescribed. Follow the dosing schedule carefully. Be sure to ask your pharmacist if you have any questions. If you are taking this drug only one time day, this should be taken in the morning before 9. m. the liquid (suspension) form must be shaken well before each use. first use of suspension may require shaking for 5 to 7 minutes. After the 1st use, no more than 30 seconds of shaking should be required to mix all ingredients well. If you have been taking this medication for a long time, do not suddenly stop taking this without your doctor's approval. your dose may need to be gradually reduced. You may experience extreme fatigue, weakness, stomach upset or dizziness when medication is suddenly stopped.

    Cortisone Acetate side effects: may cause dizziness, nausea, indigestion, increased appetite, weight gain, weakness or sleep disturbances. These effects should disappear as some your body adjusts to medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform you're doctor. Notify your physician if you experience: vomiting of blood, black or tarry stools, puffing of the face, swelling of the ankles or feet, unusual weight gain, prolonged sore throat or fever, muscle weakness, breathing difficulties, mood changes, vision changes. in unlikely part you have an allergic reaction to it medication, seek healthcare professional attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or doctor.

    Cortisone Acetate Precautions: Before using this drug, tell youre doctor your medical history, particularly if you have: liver or kidney disease, heart problems, intestinal problems, ulcers, HBP, an underactive thyroid gland, myasthenia gravis, herpes eye infection, history of tuberculosis (TB), seizures, blood clots, osteoporosis (brittle bones), eye problems, any allergies. don't have vaccination, other immunization or any skin test while you are using this drug unless your pharmacist specifically tells you that you may. If you have a history of ulcers or take big doses of aspirin or other arthritis medication, limit youre consumption about alcoholic beverages while taking this drug. it may make your stomach & intestines more susceptible to the irritating effects of alcohol, aspirin, and certain arthritis pills, increasing you're risk of ulcers. Report any injuries or signs of infection (fever, sore throat, pain during urination, & muscle aches) that occur during treatment and within 12 months after treatment with this medication. some your dose may need to be adjusted or you may need to start taking drug again. If you have diabetes, this drug may increase some your blood sugar level. check your blood (or urine) glucose level frequently, as directed by your physician. Promptly report any abnormal results as directed. your medicine, exercise plan, or diet may be adjusted. If phlegm (sputum) you cough up when sick becomes thickened or changes color from clear white to yellow, green, or gray, contact your healthcare professional; these changes may be signs of an infection. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. this med passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. this tablet may cause growth suppression in infants & child if given for prolonged periods. Monitor growth velocity. Consult your physician or pharmacist since more text.

    Cortisone Acetate drug interactions: Before you take this drug, tell you're physician of any over-the-counter or prescription medications you taking especially: aspirin, arthritis tablet, anticoagulants ('blood thinners'), diuretics ('water pills'), rifampin, phenobarbital, estrogen (e.g., birth control pills), phenytoin, ketoconazole, neostigmine, pyridostigmine, ambenonium, medications for diabetes. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Cortisone Acetate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include joint or muscle pain, purple patches on skin, headache, increased thirst or urination, blurred vision, tiredness, stomach pain, or muscle weakness.

    Cortisone Acetate special notes: Persons taking it medication for long-term therapy should wear or carry identification stating that they taking corticosteroid. do not allow anyone else to take it med.

    If you missed Cortisone Acetate dose: If you taking daily dose & miss dose, take it as soon as you remember; however, do not take it if this is almost clock for the next dose. If it almost time for next dose, skip the missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up. for all other dosing regimens: if you miss dose, contact your physician or healthcare professional promptly. youre dosing schedule may need to be changed.

    Cortisone Acetate Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom. do not freeze liquid forms of it medication. Certain liquid forms may require refrigeration. Consult you're pharmacist.
