    Guaifenesin with dextromethorphan - oral

    (gweye-fen-eh-sin with dex-trow-meth-or-fan)

    Tussin DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. this combination pill is used to treat a cough associated with common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.

    How to use Tussin DM: Take it medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more many times than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased.

    Tussin DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first several days as some your body adjusts to the pill. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop any of these effects while taking it med: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or healthcare professional.

    Tussin DM Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. for small amounts about this drug are found at breast milk, consult you're physician before breast-feeding.

    Tussin DM medication interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Tussin DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.

    Tussin DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it medication. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

    If you missed Tussin DM dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near the time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Tussin DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. don't store in the bathroom.
