Guaifenesin with dextromethorphan - oral

common brand names: Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM

Pharmatuss DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. this combination tablet is used to treat a cough associated with common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.

How to use Pharmatuss DM: Take it medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase youre dose or take this more often then directed. Capsules and long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased.

Pharmatuss DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur first few days as your body adjusts to the pill. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform youre doctor. Notify your physician if you develop any of these effects while taking it med: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're pharmacist or pharmacist.

Pharmatuss DM Precautions: Tell you're healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. since small amounts of this pill found in breast milk, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

Pharmatuss DM drug interactions: Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.

Pharmatuss DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.

Pharmatuss DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. this will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.

If you missed Pharmatuss DM dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if It's near the time since next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

Pharmatuss DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in the bathroom.
