Guaifenesin/antitussive/decongestant/antihistamine - oral
Deka Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Antitussives are cough suppressants used to relieve dry, hacking cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose & throat & itchy, watery eyes. this combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Deka: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. don't increase some your dose or take it more often than directed. this drug is best taken with full glass of water after a meal or snack.
Deka side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur the first some days as your body adjusts to pill. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're doctor. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.
Deka Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, allergies (especially drug allergies). check it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your pharmacist. since small amounts about this medication are found in breast milk, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Deka drug interactions: Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription med you use, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping meds, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic pain drug (e.g., codeine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this drug. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or physician approval.
Deka Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include abnormal eye movements, flushed face, dry mouth, change in amount of urine, fever, excitation, agitation, bizarre behavior, confusion, restlessness, irritability, delirium, twitching, abnormal tongue or eye movement, slurred speech, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, slow or shallow breathing, change in amount about urine, unconsciousness, hallucination, sleeplessness, itching, or seizures.
Deka special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Deka dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if this is near time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Deka Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in bathroom.
