Laxative Usage: it medication is a stimulant laxative. it acts by irritating digestive tract and stimulates intestinal activity. It's used to treat constipation or to clean out intestinal tract before bowel examinations or bowel surgery.
How to use Laxative: To use the suppository, unwrap it & moisten this slightly in lukewarm water. Lie on some your left side with right knee slightly bent. Insert suppository in to the rectum with your finger. If possible, avoid bowel movement for 10 to 15 minutes to allow drug to work.
Laxative side effects: this medication can cause stomach ache, cramping, weakness, sweating, irritation about the rectal area, diarrhea, or dizziness. Notify youre pharmacist if you experience: chest pain, fainting, rectal bleeding, lack of bowel movements. Frequent use about laxatives may cause dehydration and loss of essential nutrients. Symptoms include muscle cramps, muscle weakness or dizziness. Maintain an adequate fluid intake while using this medication. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre physician or pharmacist.
Laxative Precautions: do not use bisacodyl with out consulting your pharmacist if you have: severe nausea, vomiting, gastritis, other stomach or intestinal problems, recent abdominal surgery, rectal bleeding, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, appendicitis, allergy to bisacodyl. If the patient is under 6 years about age, consult child's physician before using this drug. Before using bisacodyl, tell your physician if you pregnant. Its not known if bisacodyl passes in to breast milk. Consult you're pharmacist if you breast-feeding.
Laxative drug interactions: Tell your doctor of every prescription & nonprescription med you may use. do not stop or start any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Laxative Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. it medicine may be harmful if swallowed. If you or someone you know may have taken this medicine by mouth, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Laxative special notes: Laxatives should only be used temporarily until normal bowel habits return. Prolonged use can lead to laxative dependence. To prevent constipation: drink 4 to six glasses of water daily, include bulk or roughage at your diet, & exercise regularly.
If you missed Laxative dose: If you miss dose, skip the missed dose. do not double the dose.
Laxative Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. don't store in the bathroom.
