Imitrex Usage: this drug is used to treat attacks about migraine headaches 1 time they occur. Relief about symptoms may be noted as early as ten minutes and usually within one hour. it is not effective in preventing migraines. this medication is not to be used for other types of headaches.

How to use Imitrex: this medication is given by injection just under skin. it should be given as soon as possible when symptoms of a migraine appear. If the first dose does not relieve headache, use no more of this medication since same attack. If however, another attack occurs later, a second injection may be used if 1 hour has elapsed since the 1-st dose. do not use more than two injections in 24 hour period. Use it drug as directed. don't increase your dose or use this more frequently than prescribed. the auto-injector enables this medication to be self-injected. your pharmacist or physician can show you how to properly load injector & administer the tablet. Make sure you understand correct technique for injection and how to properly dispose of needles, syringes & the med. Be sure to ask any questions you may have.

Imitrex side effects: Tingling sensations, feelings of warmth or heaviness, dizziness, flushing, drowsiness or pain or redness at injection site may occur. If these symptoms continue or become worse, inform some your physician. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, tightness in chest or throat, an irregular or rapid pulse. in unlikely chapter you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Imitrex Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: heart condition, chest pain, hypertension, kidney disease, liver problems, allergies (especially medication allergies). there have been rare reports of those with sulfa medication allergies having allergic reactions to sumatriptan. Consult your healthcare professional or physician. Because this medication can cause dizziness & drowsiness, use caution engaging at activities requiring alertness. manufacturer does not recommend use about sumatriptan in elderly, because they may be more sensitive to Its side effects. this med should be used only when clearly needed if you pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Discuss risks & benefits with you're pharmacist. it drug appears in breast milk. Consult your pharmacist of breast-feeding.

Imitrex drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you use, especially of: ergotamine- containing drug, other drugs for prevention or treatment of headaches, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), antidepressants, tablets used to promote weight loss. do not take MAO inhibitors with sumatriptan or use sumatriptan within 2 weeks of stopping use of MAO inhibitors. don't take any ergotamine-containing medication & sumatriptan within 24 hours of each other. It's recommended to avoid consumption about alcohol while taking this med. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.

Imitrex Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include tremor, chest pain, slowed breathing, & seizures.

Imitrex special notes: this medication is used to treat a migraine attack. It's not effective in preventing migraines or reducing their occurrence.

If you missed Imitrex dose: it med is not for routine use. Use this only when symptoms of a migraine appear to stop an attack in progress as directed.

Imitrex Storage: Store it medication at room temperature away from heat & light. Properly discard of used drug and needles. Keep out of reach of children.
