Decongestant/antihistamine/anticholinergic - oral

Dehistine Usage: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose & throat & itchy, watery eyes. Anticholinergics have drying effect on mucous secretions. it combination drug is used to treat symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.

How to use Dehistine: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often then directed. this medication is best taken with full glass of water after meal or snack. Long-acting tablets & capsules should be swallowed whole. do not crush or chew them or long action may be destroyed & chance of side effects increased.

Dehistine side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, blurred vision, constipation or dry mouth, nose and eyes may occur the first few days as youre body adjusts to tablet. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit some your intake about alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or physician.

Dehistine Precautions: Tell youre healthcare professional if you have: pre-existing kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, any allergies. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your doctor promptly if this contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this drug must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your pharmacist. since small amounts of this drug are found in breast milk, consult some your doctor before breast-feeding.

Dehistine drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: drug since blood pressure, pill for depression such as MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline). Tell your healthcare professional if you take drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines or tricyclics), anti- seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants. Limit your intake about alcoholic beverages while taking it drug. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or doctor approval.

Dehistine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, headache, weakness, disorientation, hyperactivity, restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, fast breathing, fever, hot dry and flushed skin, seizures, or coma.

Dehistine special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

If you missed Dehistine dose: If you miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered; don't take this if Its near clock for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

Dehistine Storage: Store in room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in the bathroom.
