    Pyrazinamide - oral

    (pir-uh-zin-uh-mide)

    Pyrazinamide Usage: this medication is used in the treatment about tuberculosis. it is much about times used at combination with other anti-tuberculosis medications. Use of only rifampin & pyrazinamide as two-drug, two-month therapy to treat tuberculosis (specifically 'latent' TB infection) is no longer recommended. Infrequently, serious (sometimes fatal) liver disease has occurred with use of these 2 drugs alone. several another effective alternative treatments can be used to treat latent tuberculosis (e.g., isoniazid for 9 months). Use about rifampin & pyrazinamide as episode of a multi-drug (3 or more drugs) treatment plan for tuberculosis is still acceptable. Consult your pharmacist or healthcare professional since more details.

    How to use Pyrazinamide: Take it medication as prescribed. To be most effective, be sure to take each dose on time. Try not to miss any doses. don't increase your dose or take it more much of times than directed. it is important to continue taking this for full time prescribed. sometimes Its necessary to take this for two months or longer to be sure infection is completely cleared. this medication is usually given one time day, but may be divided into 3 or 4 doses if needed. in some cases, it drug is given only 2 times a week. chat to youre healthcare professional about it alternative dosing schedule.

    Pyrazinamide side effects: Stomach upset, muscle aches or acne may occur first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're pharmacist. Tell your physician immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: fever, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dark urine, yellowing eyes or skin, weakness, pain or swelling of joints. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Pyrazinamide Precautions: Tell youre pharmacist if you have: kidney problems, liver disease, gout, diabetes, allergies (especially drug allergies). it drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your pharmacist. since small amounts of it medication are found at breast milk, consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.

    Pyrazinamide medication interactions: Tell your doctor about any over-the-counter or prescription med you may take. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this med since risk about side effects may be increased. don't start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

    Pyrazinamide Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Pyrazinamide special notes: Laboratory tests will be done periodically while taking this drug to monitor this is effectiveness and to prevent side effects.

    If you missed Pyrazinamide dose: If you miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered; don't take it if it is near the clock for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Pyrazinamide Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
