Warning: I.V. fat emulsions must be used with extreme caution in premature or low birth weight infants. Fats have been reported to build up in their lungs and fatalities have occurred. These infants should be carefully monitored when using IV fat emulsions.
Travamulsion Usage: Fats used by body as a source of calories needed to provide the energy & nutrients for various bodily functions. this medication is used in people who are unable to eat properly.
How to use Travamulsion: Allow all bags or bottles to warm to room temperature before using. this nutritional supplement is administered intravenously as directed by certified health care professional. it is infused over predetermined clock period stated on bottle.
Travamulsion side effects: the most common side effect of intravenous nutrition is infection or irritation of the vein at administration site (catheter). this should be reported to your pharmacist. Also report: shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing, sweating, sleepiness. Notify your physician immediately if you experience: itchy hives, sudden weight gain, fever, chills, yellowing of skin or eyes, darkening urine, bruising, stomach pain. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.
Travamulsion Precautions: Tell your physician if you have any pre-existing conditions, such as: kidney disease, digestive disorders, other illness, any allergies. it drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with youre pharmacist. it isn't known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Travamulsion medication interactions: Tell you're physician of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take. don't start or stop any medicine with out physician or physician approval.
Travamulsion Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Travamulsion special notes: Make sure needles, tubing, & supplies stored safely & disposed of properly. special tubing supplied since fat emulsion must never contain a filter. do not use any bottle in which separation of emulsion has occurred. cash every expiration dates & keep every bags or bottles in proper sequence. Notify your doctor if you have allergies to eggs or soybean. your nutritional status will be closely monitored. Based on this you're formula may need to be changed to accommodate your nutritional needs.
If you missed Travamulsion dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the following dose, instead, skip missed dose & contact your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Travamulsion Storage: Store unopened containers at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. Mixed fat emulsions should be refrigerated & used within 24 hours. Discard any unused drug after expiration date.
