Laxative Usage: Irritant or stimulant laxatives used to treat constipation & to clear intestine before rectal or bowel examinations.
How to use Laxative: Take each dose with a full glass about water or juice & drink plenty of fluids while taking this med. Chewable tablets to be chewed thoroughly. pills are to be swallowed whole with a full glass about water. Wafers are to be chewed. Laxatives must not be used in persons experiencing stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting.
Laxative side effects: this medication may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stomach cramps or bloating. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're physician. Notify your doctor if you experience: rectal bleeding, rapid heart rate, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, unrelieved constipation. this medication may cause the urine to turn pink, red or brownish at color. do not be alarmed. it isnt harmful. Prolonged, frequent or excessive use of laxatives may lead to dependency. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or physician.
Laxative Precautions: Tell some your physician your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, swelling (edema), any allergies (especially to tartrazine). Castor oil is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Bulk producing laxatives an alternative. Discuss the risks & benefits with your pharmacist. Consult some your doctor before using any drug while breast-feeding.
Laxative drug interactions: Because laxatives may interfere with absorption about few pills, It's important to tell you're pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take. Avoid the use of dairy products or antacids within one hour about taking bisacodyl tablets. do not start or stop any medicine with-out physician or physician approval.
Laxative Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include severe diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, weakness, lack of feeling alert, or dry gums & eyes.
Laxative special notes: To maintain normal bowel habits, It's important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 eight ounce glasses day), increase youre intake of fiber & roughage and exercise regularly.
If you missed Laxative dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if it is near the clock for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
