Cefuroxime Usage: this med is cephalosporin antibiotic and is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.
How to use Cefuroxime: Take this med with food as directed by your physician. Antibiotics work best when amount of medicine in you're body is kept in constant level. Do this by taking medication in evenly spaced intervals throughout the day & night. Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a several days. Stopping the med too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection. Swallow the tablets whole. do not crush or chew; they have strong bitter taste. Use liquid suspension form of this drug if It's difficult to swallow the tablets.
Cefuroxime side effects: this drug may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting. Take with food or milk to minimize these effects. If they continue or become severe, inform youre pharmacist promptly. Inform your doctor promptly if any of these effects occur: headache, dizziness, fatigue, muscle aches, strange taste in the mouth, persistent fever, easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat. Though occurring rarely, seek immediate healthcare attention if you experience: seizures, jerky movements, severe drowsiness, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, change in amount of urine. in the unlikely part you have an allergic reaction to this med, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre physician or doctor.
Cefuroxime Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, stomach/intestinal problems, any allergies. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Tell your physician if you are pregnant before using this med. Cefuroxime is excreted into breast milk. Though there have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Cefuroxime med interactions: Tell you're physician of all drugs you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially about: medication for gout (such as probenecid), live vaccines, other antibiotics. this tablet may interfere with effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods about birth control with your healthcare professional. Diabetics must be aware this medication can cause false positive urine glucose tests. talk to your healthcare professional or pharmacist about other ways to monitor some your blood glucose. do not start or stop any medicine with-out healthcare professional or doctor approval.
Cefuroxime Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include seizures.
Cefuroxime special notes: it pill has been prescribed for youre current condition only. do not use it later for another infection or give it to someone else. different medication may be necessary.
If you missed Cefuroxime dose: If you must miss dose, take it as soon as remembered unless It's almost time for the next dose. If it is nearly clock for the next dose, skip missed dose and resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Cefuroxime Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight & moisture.
