Guaifenesin/dextromethorphan/decongestant - oral
Tussin Cold & Cough Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses a cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination med is used to treat a cough & relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Tussin Cold & Cough: this med is best taken with a full glass about water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting tablets and capsules whole. do not crush or chew them because the long action will be destroyed and chance of side effects will be increased. Take this drug as prescribed. do not increase youre dose or take this more often than directed.
Tussin Cold & Cough side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify youre physician if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Tussin Cold & Cough Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any drug allergies. check this product's ingredient list since phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your healthcare professional promptly if this contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. it tablet should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. it drug may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Tussin Cold and Cough drug interactions: Tell your physician of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you use, especially: tablet for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit you're intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or physician approval.
Tussin Cold & Cough Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss about coordination, unusual movements about the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, big pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Tussin Cold & Cough special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this med. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Tussin Cold & Cough dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; don't take this if it is near time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Tussin Cold & Cough Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
