Warning: rarely, serious (even fatal) side effects have occurred with rituximab use. Side effects such as breathing trouble, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, or big change in amount of urine must be reported to you're doctor immediately. your doctor may stop rituximab or use additional treatment. Laboratory tests (e.g., electrolytes, kidney function) may be performed to monitor your progress. If you have heart or lung problems, large number of cancer cells (above 25,000/mm3) in the blood, or certain cancers (CLL or lymphoma), you should be closely monitored.
Rituxan Usage: Rituximab is a type of drug called monoclonal antibody. it is used to treat certain types about cancer (e.g., non- Hodgkin's lymphoma).
How to use Rituxan: this drug is given slowly by vein (IV), one time week for 4 doses; or use as directed by your healthcare professional. Depending on your condition and response to therapy, you may receive more than one course of treatment. Follow every instructions for proper mixing and dilution with correct IV fluids. Follow every safety precautions. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions regarding use of it tablet. Before using, cash this product visually for particles or discoloration. If ether is present, don't use liquid.
Rituxan side effects: Headache, nausea, facial flushing, or dizziness may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or healthcare professional promptly. Tell your physician immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: fatigue, decrease in amount of urine, weakness, fever, chills, pain at the tumor site, joint or muscle pain, stomach pain, sore throat. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any about these unlikely but serious side effects occur: chest pain, cough, diarrhea, increased thirst or urination, tingling of hands or feet, flushing, unusual bleeding or bruising, sweating, mental/mood changes. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: fast/slow/irregular pulse, chest pain, slow or shallow breathing, dark urine, yellowing eyes or skin. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.
Rituxan Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: heart problems (e.g., arrhythmias, angina), blood disorders (e.g., thrombocytopenia), lung problems (e.g., pulmonary infiltrates), allergies (especially tablet allergies). this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this medication can lower body's ability to fight an infection. Notify your pharmacist promptly if you develop any signs of an infection such as fever, chills, or persistent sore throat. Consult your doctor or physician of using reliable form of birth control (e.g., condoms, oral birth control pills). Pregnancy isn't recommended during treatment with, and for at least 12 months following use of it pill. it tablet should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your pharmacist. it isnt known if this tablet passes into breast milk. Because about potential risk to infant, breast-feeding while using it medication isn't recommended. Consult youre pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Rituxan drug interactions: Tell your physician or pharmacist of all nonprescription & prescription meds you may use, especially of: other anti-cancer drugs, drugs for high blood pressure (e.g., enalapril, metoprolol, verapamil), recent or upcoming immunizations (e.g., oral polio, measles vaccines). don't start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or physician approval.
Rituxan Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Rituxan special notes: Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., blood) may be performed to monitor for side effects & response to treatment.
If you missed Rituxan dose: If you miss dose, contact youre healthcare professional or physician immediately to establish new dosing schedule.
Rituxan Storage: Store vials in refrigerator between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 & 8 degrees C) away from light & moisture. After mixing & dilution in correct IV fluids (consult your pharmacist for details), drug is stable at refrigerator temperature for 24 hours & at room temperature for an additional 12 hours. Discard any unused liquid.
