Perphenazine Usage: this medication is used to treat mental and emotional conditions. this is also used to treat nausea & vomiting & may be used for other conditions as determined by your pharmacist.
How to use Perphenazine: Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs, unless directed otherwise by your doctor. some your dosage is based on your condition & response to med. this pill should be used exactly as prescribed. don't increase dose or stop taking this medication without first consulting your doctor. Measure carefully and dilute with 4 ounces or more about water, milk, juice or carbonated beverage. it can be mixed into applesauce or pudding. do not dilute with coffee, tea, colas or apple juice because medication may lose effectiveness. Take immediately after diluting. do not dilute drug and save for later use. this must be diluted before each dose. in the treatment of mental or emotional conditions it may take up to two weeks for full benefit of pill to take effect.
Perphenazine side effects: Constipation, drowsiness, vision changes or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your physician. this drug may cause dizziness & lightheadedness. To minimize these effects, get up slowly when rising from seated or lying position. Unlikely to occur, but report promptly: restlessness, muscle stiffness, weakness, difficulty speaking, loss of balance, mask- love facial expression, trembling or shaking, dizziness, lip smacking or other uncontrollable movements, difficulty urinating, skin rash/discoloration. Very unlikely to occur, but report promptly: sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, stomach pain, yellowing about eyes or skin, dark urine, hot dry skin, vomiting. Though very unlikely to occur, notify your healthcare professional immediately if you experience any of the following effects: severe muscle stiffness, confusion, fever, seizures, irregular/fast heartbeat, increased sweating, prolonged/painful erection. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it med, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or physician.
Perphenazine Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially about: very high or very low blood pressure, liver or heart disease, Reye's syndrome, alcohol or drug dependencies, nervous system problems, blood disorders, allergies, especially drug allergies). Use caution performing tasks that require alertness such as driving or operating machinery. Use of alcohol can cause extreme drowsiness. Avoid alcohol use. it medication may increase sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged sun exposure & wear sunscreen & protective clothing when you are exposed to the sun. this medication can reduce sweating making you more susceptible to heat stroke. Avoid strenuous work or exercise at hot weather. Elderly patients more sensitive to effects of this medication. Use cautiously. child should be monitored closely while using this drug. this med should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. Certain drugs closely related to this one (phenothiazines) have been detected in breast milk and may have undesirable effects on nursing infant. Consult you're healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Perphenazine med interactions: Inform your pharmacist about every medications you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially of: anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drugs, sparfloxacin, grepafloxacin, guanethidine, guanadrel, metrizamide, cabergoline, lithium, narcotic pain pill (e.g., codeine), drugs used to aid sleep, drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), other medicines that make you drowsy. much cough-and-cold products contain ingredients that may add drowsiness effect. Before you use any cough-and-cold medications, ask your pharmacist or pharmacist about the safe use of those goods. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.
Perphenazine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include, restlessness, confusion, excitement, weakness, fatigue, fainting, dizziness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, small pupil size, tremors, difficulty in swallowing or breathing, excessive drowsiness, very low body temperature, or seizures.
Perphenazine special notes: do not share it medication with others.
If you missed Perphenazine dose: If you miss dose and take 1 dose daily, take the missed dose as soon as remembered unless It's almost clock for the next dose. at that case, skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule. If you take more than 1 dose daily, take missed dose as soon as possible if it is within an hour or so of the missed dose. If not remembered within an hour, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double the dose to catch up.
Perphenazine Storage: Store at the original container at room temperature not higher than 86 degrees F (30 degrees C). Keep away from sunlight and moisture. do not store in the bathroom. Keep out of reach of children.
