Tussin Usage: Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination drug is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Tussin: Take it medication as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsule dose forms should be swallowed whole.
Tussin side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, nervousness, restlessness, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur 1st several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform youre doctor. Notify some your healthcare professional if you develop chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, tremors, extreme nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Tussin Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: heart disease, hypertension, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, allergies (especially drug allergies). check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your doctor promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with youre physician. since small amounts about this drug are found in breast milk, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Tussin drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist about any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may use, including: blood pressure drugs, drugs used to reduce weight, heart medication, drug that prevents drowsiness, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). don't use this product together with an MAO inhibitor, or for two weeks after stopping MAO inhibitor med. do not start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Tussin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, hyperactivity, slow or shallow breathing, blurred vision, or unconsciousness.
Tussin special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Tussin dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Tussin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in the bathroom.
