Antihistamines with decongestants - oral
Silafed Usage: Antihistamines provide relief about symptoms of allergies such as rash, hives, watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes & sneezing. Decongestants relieve congestion, promote sinus draining & improve breathing.
How to use Silafed: May be taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. It's recommended to drink plenty about fluids while taking this med, unless your pharmacist instructs you otherwise. If symptoms do not improve after 7 days or accompanied by high fever, notify your pharmacist. do not increase the dose or take this more frequently than recommended. the suspension dosage form must be shaken well before each use.
Silafed side effects: may cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach upset, blurred vision, restlessness, irritability and dry mouth & nose. These effects should subside as your body adjusts to medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Notify you're doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, ringing in ears, difficulty urinating. may cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Change positions slowly & be careful on stairs. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Silafed Precautions: Tell your physician you're medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, ulcers, difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, heart disease, high blood pressure, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland, med allergies. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your doctor promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. don't drink alcoholic beverages. it tablet should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult your physician before breast-feeding. do not give this med to a child younger than six years of age unless directed to do so by a pharmacist.
Silafed medication interactions: Tell you're doctor what meds you take, especially of: high blood pressure drugs, anti-seizure meds, antidepressants, sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain drug, other cold or allergy medication. do not take this medication if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within last 2 weeks. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or doctor approval.
Silafed Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose at child may include dizziness, nausea/vomiting, abnormal eye movements, flushed face, dry mouth, change in amount of urine, fever, excitation, agitation, unconsciousness, bizarre behavior, confusion, restlessness, irritability, delirium, twitching, tiredness, abnormal tongue movement, trembling extremities, slurred speech, or seizures. Symptoms of overdose in adults may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, or unconsciousness, which may be followed by excitement or seizures.
Silafed special notes: do not share this product with others.
If you missed Silafed dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if It's almost time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Silafed Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight & moisture.
