Prevpac Usage: this drug is used to treat & help prevent certain types of ulcers (ulcer with H. pylori infection).
How to use Prevpac: Take by mouth exactly as directed by your physician, usually one dose (which contains 4 pills) twice daily before meal. Swallow each tablet whole. do not divide, crush or chew. Each packet contains both morning & evening dose of your medicines (one day supply). Consult your healthcare professional or healthcare professional for instructions on proper use of this product. If also taking sucralfate, it product should be taken at least 30 minutes before the sucralfate dose. finish you're entire treatment even if your symptoms improve.
Prevpac side effects: Headache, dizziness & abnormal taste may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Report diarrhea promptly. Unlikely but report promptly: nausea, stomach pain, dark or bloody stools. Very unlikely but report promptly: chest pain, sudden weakness, vision changes, unusually quick or irregular heartbeats, vomiting, mouth sores, tongue discoloration, muscle pain, persistent sore throat with fever, unusual bruising or bleeding, yellowing about eyes or skin, severe stomach pain, mood/mental changes, increased thirst or hunger, change in amount or color of urine. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, fainting, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Prevpac Precautions: Before using it tablet, tell youre doctor youre entire medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), liver or kidney disease, asthma or other lung disease, HBP, diabetes. Limit alcohol intake, as it may worsen certain side effects of this drug. since this drug can cause dizziness, use extreme caution if operating machinery or performing hazardous tasks (e.g., driving). this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. the clarithromycin in it combination drug can potentially cause fetal harm. Consult your physician for more details. amoxicillin in this product is excreted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to effects of it drug, therefore caution is advised.
Prevpac drug interactions: this product should not be used with following medications because very serious, possibly fatal, interactions may occur: cisapride, pimozide, astemizole, terfenadine. If you currently using any of these medications, tell your pharmacist or pharmacist before starting this product. Before using it tablet, tell your pharmacist of every nonprescription & prescription drug you may use, especially about: cyclosporine, tacrolimus, certain protease inhibitors (e.g., lopinavir, ritonavir), theophylline, 'blood thinners' such as warfarin, digoxin and other heart medications, zidovudine, certain drugs for high cholesterol (e.g., lovastatin, simvastatin), drugs for blood pressure (e.g., propranolol), drugs for diabetes (e.g., glyburide), bromocriptine, sildenafil, rifabutin, methylprednisolone, cilostazol, tolterodine, anti-seizure medications (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin, valproate), drugs for migraines (e.g., dihydroergotamine, ergotamine), benzodiazepines (e.g., alprazolam, triazolam), barbiturates (e.g., hexobarbital), certain narcotic pain relievers (e.g., alfentanil). other drugs besides clarithromycin which may affect heart rhythm (QTc prolongation in EKG) include dofetilide, disopyramide, quinidine, droperidol, sotalol, procainamide, & sparfloxacin among others. QTc prolongation can infrequently result in serious, rarely fatal, irregular heartbeats. Consult your pharmacist or pharmacist for details. Ask for instructions about whether you need to stop any other QTc-prolonging drugs you may be using at order to minimize risk about this effect. Sucralfate may reduce absorption of lansoprazole in it product. Lansoprazole may decrease the absorption of iron supplements (e.g., ferrous sulfate), digoxin and certain antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole). Consult your pharmacist or physician. this tablet may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with youre healthcare professional. do not start or stop any medicine with-out healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.
Prevpac Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, & diarrhea.
Prevpac special notes: do not share this drug with others. Laboratory tests may be performed to monitor side effects. this product has been prescribed for your current condition only. don't use it later for another infection/ulcer. a different med may be necessary in those cases.
If you missed Prevpac dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near time of following dose, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Prevpac Storage: Store at room temperature between 68 & 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
