    Benzocaine/antipyrine/phenylephrine - otic

    (ben-zoh-cane/an-tee-pie-reen/fen-ill-eff-rin)

    common brand names: Otogesic, Tympagesic

    T Otic Usage: Benzocaine is an anesthetic. Antipyrine is pain reliever. Phenylephrine relieves congestion. this combination medication is used to relieve pain, swelling & irritation in the ear.

    How to use T Otic: for best effects, this medication must be used as directed. Apply ear drops to affected ears as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch dropper or let this touch youre ear. If medication has been refrigerated, hold bottle in your hand for few minutes to warm this. If the drops are a suspension (not solution) shake well for 10 seconds before using. Lie on your side or tilt the affected ear up. Place dropper directly over the ear & administer the prescribed number of drops. To help drops roll into ear, in adults, hold earlobe up & back & in children, hold earlobe down & back. Keep head tilted for minute & insert a soft cotton plug loosely in to ear. do not rinse dropper.

    T Otic side effects: this medication may temporarily sting or burn your ear for minute or two when applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your physician immediately if you develop: a skin rash, itching/burning/redness in or around the ears. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or doctor.

    T Otic Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: other infections, allergies (especially drug allergies). this med should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor.

    T Otic drug interactions: Tell you're doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription pill you may take. don't start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

    T Otic Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed. If you or someone you know may have taken this medicine by mouth, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    T Otic special notes: If the condition for which it was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after few days, consult your pharmacist.

    If you missed T Otic dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take this if it is near time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    T Otic Storage: this may be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Discard this if the solution turns brown, cloudy or contains particles.
