    Aspirin - oral

    common brand names: Ascriptin, Bufferin, Cama, Easprin, Ecotrin, Empirin

    Warning: children and teenagers should not use aspirin, aspirin- containing or aspirin-related medications for flu symptoms or chickenpox with out 1'st consulting healthcare professional. a rare but serious illness known as Reye's syndrome may occur.

    Ecotrin Usage: Aspirin is used to relieve mild to moderate pain, reduce fever, to reduce inflammation & swelling in conditions such as arthritis & is used in low doses as 'blood thinner' to prevent the formation of blood clots. this is effective in reducing risk of stroke & offers protective effect against heart attacks at men with chest pain.

    How to use Ecotrin: Take by mouth with food or after meals to prevent stomach upset. Take this drug with full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) about water unless some your physician directs you otherwise. do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this medication. Sustained release, long acting or enteric-coated preparations should be swallowed whole. do not crush or chew them or the sustained activity may be destroyed & side effects increased.

    Ecotrin side effects: Stomach upset is the most common side effect. Others include heartburn, loss of appetite or dizziness. Notify youre physician if any of these symptoms persist or worsen. Notify you're healthcare professional promptly if you develop: persistent ringing in the ears, difficulty hearing, dark urine, yellowing eyes, simple bruising, persistent stomach pain, black stools. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this pill, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre healthcare professional or healthcare professional.

    Ecotrin Precautions: If you have any about next health problems, consult your doctor before using aspirin: liver disease, kidney disease, bleeding disorders, ulcers, stomach/intestinal problems, nasal polyps, gout, asthma, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib). children & teenagers should not take aspirin if they have chickenpox, influenza or any undiagnosed illness without first consulting pharmacist of Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. If you have congestive heart failure or are on sodium- restricted diet, don't take effervescent aspirin pills or powders because they high in sodium. If you have had oral surgery or your tonsils removed in last seven days, do not use chewable aspirin pills, effervescent aspirin or aspirin at crushed meds or gargles. it medicine may cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. bucks with your healthcare professional or physician for more information. Aspirin isn't recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult you're pharmacist before taking aspirin. Aspirin is excreted in to breast milk. Though to date their have been no reports about harm to nursing infants, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding. Aspirin that has strong vinegar-like odor is old & must not be used.

    Ecotrin drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of every prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: 'blood thinners' (anticoagulants or antiplatelet pills such as warfarin, heparins, NSAIDs), acetazolamide, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), methotrexate, medication for gout, medication for diabetes. If you have diabetes, regular high-dose use about aspirin may affect test results for urine sugar. Aspirin is an ingredient in much over-the-counter products. To prevent an overdose of aspirin, read the labels carefully before taking another pain relievers or cold products to be sure they don't contain aspirin. Consult you're doctor if you uncertain you're over-the-counter goods contain aspirin. do not start or stop any medicine with out physician or healthcare professional approval.

    Ecotrin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, burning pain in throat & stomach, loss of appetite, fever, tremors, confusion, headache, dizziness, weakness, ringing in the ears, fast or slow breathing, agitation, constipation, seizures, fainting, or unconsciousness.

    Ecotrin special notes: they're much different dosage forms for aspirin products. few have special coatings or contain buffers & several long acting. Ask your doctor or pharmacist since recommendations on the best product for you.

    If you missed Ecotrin dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if It's almost time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Ecotrin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
